this thread is just to encourage people not to be afraid to go in to sex stores....today was my first time going in to one, and i was looking for anal toys (kinda embarassing, idk) and it was great....the guy was so nice in there....asked me if i needed any help...i walked out of there with a suction cup dildo and beads...just remember he's the one that works there for a living

I understand the uneasiness some people feel. My first couple of times, I was afraid I would be seen as a pervert walking into those places (a bit like the first couple of times walking into nudie bars). But like you said, you just have to remember that those employees see hundreds of people like you walking through those doors everyday and it becomes so natural for them that they have no time to judge you.

I've never been in one personally, but not for any reasons of embarassment - I simply find it far more convenient & cheaper to shop around online.

However, I fully applaud your campaign for people not to be afraid of entering the shops. It's all a matter of culture that makes it difficult as well - for instance, Holland (Amsterdam in particular, is internationally renowned for its liberal attitude to sex shops, and when all said & done, apart from the nationality, there is no physical difference between us.

At the very root of sexual embarassment, I suppose it can be likened to the purchase of condoms. I can't be certain, but I suspect that with the fight against AIDS & other STDs these days young teenagers are also far better educated regarding sexual matters & are consequentially far more comfortable about openly buying condoms than we of the older generation ever were, when they could only be obtained from the chemists, where you had to ask for them - no self service option, the barbers ("Anything for the weekend, Sir" - although I never figured why it was always supposed to be limited to the weekend), and finally, there was the favourite option - the anonymity of the vending machines found in public toilets - in fact I've even heard reports of such vending machines now being available in the boys toilets in secondary schools.
