i clipped a clone from a couple plants i had in veg and the stems were hollow. why is that? now thismorning when i get up the tips are dried out instead of opening and forming two new branches. somebody help me , pleaasse? negrow

this must be indoors im guessing, i had the same thing happen to me ur plants are getting a really weak light supply there just tall lanky weak insiders sorry bro u need a fan to toughen them up and a better light
Stems are mean't to be hollow. Sounds like you need to read up on cuttings. It takes 7 to 10 days for them to root. They need to be kept in a humid enviroment to stop them from drying out. An enclosed propagator with a plastic lid is the best way to do this or try putting plastic cups over the top of your cuttings. You do have to keep an eye out for mould proper propagators have adjustable vents but if using plastic cups try putting a few small holes in the top for a little ventilation. Temperature ideally should be between 70 to 75 degrees constant. I prefer a medium such as vemiculite for rooting. They only need medium amounts of light whilst rooting as they are not growing. Basically you need to keep them alive until they have time to root.

You need to make a cut mid-way between nodes with a razor blade (scissors cut by "squashing"). Many healthy pot plants have "hollow" stems, especially the meristem (central stalk). If the plant is healthy there is no problem.
