is it tacky to get words tattooed on yourself? i was kind of thinking of getting the word imagine tattoed on my wrist, plus a little design, i dunno. i want to design something myself and have it really mean something to me. any advice would be appreciated
something like this is a little tacky.. but hey, something meaningful is beautiful. but if youre 17 and scared of it being "tacky".. well id suggest waiting for a bit and giving it a lot of thought.. dont be rushing into anything permanent
Atropine is right. So, if ya got doubts, you should probably wait. I don't necesarily think lettering tattoos are tacky; however, I don't really care for them. I understand tattoos are symbolic, and writing is as symbolic as it gets. However, IMHO there are so many cool artistic things you can do with tattoos to communicate through pictures what you woould normally say with words. Also, wrists are a pretty visible place for a tattoo, so think long and hard. I've got a full backpiece and some work on my legs, but I'm still not sure if I'm ready to take the step into forearm tattoos. Just my 2 cents. Good luck and do what makes you happy, Peace
I say go for it. I was thining of doing something similiar, but i was going to get initials wrapped around my ring finger. small enough so that I could cover it, if neccesary.
I don't think words are tacky. My boyfriend has a sentence written on his body..."I Cannot be replaced with a machine"...They are in random places with numbers that correlate with the position in the sentence...for instance "I" has a "1" next to it, "replaced" has a "4" next to it...etc. I think it's really creative and artistic...
nice, you guys all fucking rock :> i know i should really think mighty hard about it if i want to get a tattoo in such a visible spot, and fortunatly i cant get one till im 18 or momma will go a little nuts, so i have at least a year to think about it. also i have no afternoon classes in my next ssemester so im gonna use my extra time to design my tattoo. i was kinda thinking about making a small funky design and sortof hiding the letters in it so it wouldnt be so in your face. but yeah thanks to all for your advice :>:> if you can post some pics of your tats becasue they all sound so sweet
I don't think a forearm tattoo is necessarily more visible then other tattoos. I have a tattoo of an anchor on my left forearm, and many people do not notice it until long after knowing me. My 2nd tattoo will be writing. It will be in Latin and extremely cursive and feminine. I'll post it when I get it in Feb.
I'll have to work on getting some pics of them...see...they are ALL OVER his body... "With" is on his lower back..."replace" is on his knee..."machine" is on the left side of his chest... It would be complicated to take pictures of! LOL
