My daughter has hives and has had them for 6 days now, we took her to see her pediatritian and he said it could be from anything new. Of corse he just said to wait it out.Well as some of you know we got a new pet ferret on the 30th of last month and her hives showed up the day after. I called the store and they said i could take her back and get a refund wich is good. But im already attatched and i want to make sure its the ferret before we bring her back. My daughter really likes her and shes very sweet dosent nip at all. ahh what to do... anyone ever heard of allergies like this? We have cats and shes always been fine, we havent changed anything in her clothes, food ect. This is the only thing new in her life. Any ideas??
I think this is a pretty severe reaction, but I suppose it could happen. http://www.healthcentral.com/news/newsfulltext.cfm?id=28927&StoryType=ReutersNews I hope things work out for you, your daughter, and the ferret.
I get hives from cats. I also get attacks similar to asthma, and my eyes don't stop itching for days. When we moved into our first house, the people who lived there before us had had pet ferrets and I found out from that that I was terribly allergic to ferrets, I can't even go near them in the pet store, or I will start breaking out in hives. I would love to have a cat, and my dds would love a ferret, but my allergies are just too bad. You might want to talk to your doctor about what to do. Children can be tested for allergens, so you will be sure it is the ferret before you get rid of her. Sage has been having red itchy eyes and coughing and we were afraid it was the pet mouse we just got, but we had our heating and A/C vents sucked out, (lovely term) and her allergies got a lot better. I guess hers was more dust than mouse.
