Jimi Hendrix in my opinion and many others is the unrivalled most talented guitarist in the history of man kind. What i would like to know who others believe is the second best guitarist in the world?? I know this is going to be a tricky one. who will it be???
Now I like the stones - but to consider Keith Richards and Brian Jones among the most talented guitar players.....
Seperately I guess they aren't that extraordinary, but those two together made quite the orgasmic music. What the hell is the guy's name from Motley Crue? I think anyone that knows music would consider him to be number two.
Robert Fripp is probably the greatest technical guitarist. The only thing he lacks is soul, as which is what Hendrix had more than most others. Stevie Ray Vaughn was probably also just as good as Hendrix (or at least very close).
Are you being serious? The guitarist of Motley Crue is second to the last guitar god incarnate, Jimi Hendrix? I'll have to respectfully and completely disagree. I'll go ahead and respectfully call this one of the most ludicrous opinions I've ever seen. Again, no offense. What about Stevie Ray Vaughn? You know, the 80s Blues phenomenon? Definitely better than Mick Mars. Slash--definitely better than Mick Mars Zakk Wylde--the guy is a virtuoso. definitely better So many more way above Mick Mars...
Oh and personally - for 20 years I have felt that Jerry Garcia is numero uno. The world has never known a better combination of technical prowess and soul than the old man.. Plenty have impressed me, but none have had the instant and lasting impact of tearing into the very essence of my soul and and making me whole again, time and again, each and everyday - like the old man did, does and always will do.
for me, JG is heads and shoulder above hendrix. hendrix was great, but he certainly wasn't the "most talented guitarist ever". there have been better, and probably will be more in the future. check out john mclaughlin if you want to hear one of the greatest guitarists ever.
Do you know who Clapton thinks is the best? Figured I'd ask based upon our sig pic and our interchange in the thread about him.
and btw, brian jones was nothing special. mick taylor was the best thing to ever happen to the stones.
