p2p is a peer to peer network, such as limewire, napster, aries, there are a bunch. A sound device would have nothing to do with downloading the music, only playing it. What do you mean by it won't let you play cd's? Does windows media player come up, just without sound? or does nothing happen at all?

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly.

my best guess would be to go into the device manager and see if theirs a problem with your driver...im pretty sure drivers that have problems will come up with a yellow caution sign next to the device name

sounds like a driver problem... find out what sound device you are using and update the drivers. What operating system are you on?

^ damn you, beat me to it
