    Hey guys.

I extracted some cactus alkaloids and they are sitting out in the sun during the day to evaporate. However, the weather is a tad chilly, so they aren't evaporating very well. Erowid.org says that if I would use artificial heat to speed it up, I'd have less chance of producting crystals. But does it really matter if its in crystal or goo form?

What if I put it on a low simmer for a few hours to let it evaporate off faster?
Would that damage the mescaline or make it less potent? Would my yield decrease?

If anyone can help me, that'd be cool.

    Thank you,

i don't know a ton about this but if you're in a hurry here's what i might be able to help ya out. from everything i've read and taking into account the source of the information here's what i believe would be best and safest. i recently did an alcohol extraction where i tried to put some heat on my extraction to speed up the process and i might of over-did it because it started bubbling but my point is just be very very careful if you try to use an oven. make sure the oven door is cracked also and keep an eye on it the whole time. it wont take very long. if you have an electric stove you can boil some water and put your glass/pyrex dish of extraction over it to speed up drying as well but again you have to be very careful and keep an eye on it. as to whether or not the end product is effected i believe will be determined by how much heat you use probably and how long you let it dry. i had a window fan sucking out of my room with another window open and what i did was put the extraction propped up right in front of the fan sucking out, and that did a nice job pretty quick. as long as you don't boil or bubble up the extraction to bad you shouldn't decrease your dose any. as to the end result, i've heard of people getting everything from dried up crystals to gooey sticky resin and they're tripped equally as hard. i'd imagine the end result potency is going to have more to do with the quanity/quality that you started with. sorry i rambled a bit but i hope this helped some

Alright cool. What do you think would be a good temperature to use in the oven?
And how fast does the stuff evaporate in there?

If still a thin liquid, simmer, do not boil.

If goo, use a fan and/or oven at about 150 F.

Even with ideal weather, it's gonna take awhile.

    Good luck!

Use the oven at the very lowest setting. 150F. Take out occasionally if drying crystals to swirl the liquid extract around the hot surface to help speed up evaporation. Or try turning the glass dish in different directions. Chances are your oven wont be perfectly level and the liquid will tend to pool on a low corner or side.

If evaporating crude extracts just evap until you have a wet solid which you would just dry using a fan at room temp.

In either case your looking a few hours maybe 2-6hrs depending on volume.

    Use a double boiler.

Make a pot of water and pot a smaller pot inside it propped up of the bottom (mason jar lids work good). The water in the bigger pot should be less than halfway upthe smaller pot. With this set up, you don't have to worry about scorching your mescaline tea, so you can realy turn up the heat. It takes 1/5 the time of heating in a pan to reduce the liquid, and no worries about burning.
