Well, I have a few times sucessfully oxidized PSUEDOephedrine with permaganate, with decent results.
So, it's not that Im complaining about an ineffective synth, but I am complaining about the process of obtaining 30+ grams from these fucking pills, not to mention the fact that you need to a/b the pills just to be able to get pure....
I read in the clandestine chemist's notebook something about ephedra used to extract ephedrine for meth. It metnioned that a few chemists simply used pure methanol to extract a roughly pure(ish) ephedrine, that turned to a gum or sludge when evaporated.
My questions is if I can subsitute this ephedrine gum into a permagante synth. I'm unclear as to whether this will work, as I heard somehwere the permagante synth only work for PSUEDOephedrine. Im also concered at the potential impurities from this sludge, but there are no good methods anywhere to get pure ephedrine crystals from plat, if someone could find some insight onto that, I'mm willing to take the extra trouble. In the end it'd be better than bothereing with PSUEDO.

My next question is about this damn h2o2 shit I keep seeing. Basically, it's just some dude who thinks he can (though I doubt its even tested) oxidize the ephedrine with hydrogen peroxide. His method, with the microwave and alll that dumb shit will NOT work, I don't need to test it to find out, but I have some faith in it. I believe if you were to react it properly (with right amounts of h2o2 and precursor), leave it in a cool area, since MCAT synths often require this, extract the freebase MCAT out with xylene, salt, evap. Does anyone think or know this has any possible potenital?

Help is greatly appriciated at this point.
