I have a question about meditating. Whenever I meditate, I experience a VERY WEIRD FEELING. The very first time it scared me and in that fear it quickly disappated. Since then I have learned to ride it out and it feels kewl and yet I dont know what it actually is. Ok, here is the description: After a point of relaxing and getting a centered feeling, I get this feeling of falling, or maybe vibrating...i am not really sure....if anyone has ever had any blood drawn and almost passed out, its kinda like that but without the negative nausious feeling. (feels how I imagine death to be) It is like I am falling or slipping from myself in my mind....if that makes any sense. I have allowed the feeling to just happen and it is sorta like going down a high rollercoaster--that wierd pressure and feeling against your body. Anyway, at the end of the feeling...which lasts about 20-45 seconds if I can manage not to "focus" on them, I am just normal and relaxed again. Also I have learned to actually CAUSE the feelings. If I focus deeply on nothing (if that makes sense) and blank my mind the feeling rushes in seconds later. What is this? Since I am not leaping out my body or having any lucid dreams in meditation or even visuals, I am wondereing whats going on. It feels a whole heck of alot more powerful then just "getting relaxed" but never seems to actually GO anywhere. ANY IDEAS PEOPLES? Jeff
I've had that same feeling also when im meditating and in the beginning I also got very scared and I even asked about it on this forum. Cant remember now what it was but some people said that it might have had something to do with the root chakra.
I think it's a normal feeling, i had that at the begining. I think, that from that stage you can get into an OoBE (Out of Body Experience) stage
Szymek, hmmm...i have heard some good things on this and some very scary thngs lol. You say that this is a precursor to an OOB.......how might I make this an actual happening then? What step is next to just maybe peeking out a lil bit to see whats going on in the heavenlies Neonate, root chakra? in what way...I dont follow? Jeff
Well it might relate to the root chakra in a way that there is a lot of energy flowing down into the root chakra thus grounding you and giving this feeling. That is what happens if I remember correctly
yeah i had this when i first meditated, I agree with the theory of Neonate. I wouldnt worry too much as it didnt do me any harm, well I hope not anyhow .
Neonate and philuk, Thanx. So, root chakra huh. I dont know much about this. I dont fear the feeling at all. Actually I really like it now. So what exactly is this root chakra and whats happening with it? Is there something I can do to use this feeling/energy or whatever to propel me into a higher state or maybe an OBE or something or am I way off with what this all is? I guess I am wondring where I go with it or what I can direct it to...or do I just casually enjoy it and that is it? Jeff
Yeah!! I get the same kind of feeling when I go to sleep... sometimes I just lay there aware of everyhting going on, wondering if i'm asleep or not, then my body starts to vibrate-like... it make my mind super-clear and a rush of energy kind of rouses me from my slumber and wow. yeah man, sometimes, it's like really intense and it's almost like I can feel the sight of the surrounding neighborhood and woods, then the sky, but all at the same time. Anyway, it is a rather transient thing, though I don't think I'd mind too much if it were to continue.. ;_)
I'm not as heavily into the whole "chakra" thing as the rest of you, but I do acknowledge it. Regardless, I have experienced this same weird feeing many many times while meditating. I rather like it.
I agree it sounds like the start of an OBE. The sinking feeling you is when you are realigning your Yin energies. Blessings Sebbi
yeah i get that when meditating. it is almost always followed by an OoBE. it's great, and i always try to keep the feeling going as long as i can, cause the longer it is, usually the OoBE is better and longer.
yeah agree there, ive only had one experience you could class as this. And the energy went to the 7th chakra at the top of the head for it to happen. I was awakened while in deep sleep hearing a mantra chanted and then the energy went rushing up to my head chakra with so much force my head felt like spliting. Like Bree I am not heavily into the chakra thing and havent the slightest idea how it all works. Not sure any have from all the different theories you hear. Best to just develop one pointed concentration and the rest will follow from my experience. The minute you want something like an OBE thats what your'll get, want.
Out of body hmmmmmm... well mine has never progressed to that. I have had it going close to about 40 seconds I would say and then it just fades as quickly as it came. Usually I get a few while I meditate. Maybe I just get stuck gettin out lol. I dont know anything about the whole chakra business either. Oh, and there is a variation...usually i experience just a void but on occassion some white light with the rush. I would like to hear from an "expert" what their opinion is. Keep the ideas coming Jeff
do u want to get rid of that feeling or u like it or u just wanted to know if any body gets it? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- yoga is (concept): (forget about chakras) its a type of exercise to keep whole body synchronize its main aim is to get rid of negative thoughts and to keep body fit and fine. u can make your body stiff at gym but there is no mental development at gym
Nick--- no I really like the feeling. It scared me the first time it happened but now I actually look forward to it when it happens!! I just wondered what it is? Can I DO anything with it...such as use it as a stepping stone to something else? WHAT is actually happening with this feeling? Jeff
The falling feeling is perfectly normal. What comes next may be more of a shock - the feeling that you are going to die. Obviously it is the mind dying. Yeah, i got too scared to proceed. But supposedly if you can live through the mind dying you will become enlightened. I usually like to meditate watching a waterfall. When I can stop the water from falling I know that I am there. Now it's just a matter of always watching my mind. That is a weird feeling - to see your mind at work and being detached from it. What can you do with that exhilerating feeling of falling into yourslef? Why do you think Tibetan monks chant? So that it feels even better. What can you do? Feel the energy in your spine rising.
White Feather, I have ridden it out past the feeling of death. I like the feeling now. But it doesnt go anywhere and I hardly consider myself enlightened lol. I like the waterfall idea, though I meditate with my eyes closed. However I have noticed that when I am awake and sorta daydream, I am able to make whatever I am looking at fade into oblivion and dissappear even though I am looking right at it. I have even at times made moving stuff seem to vanish as well. I just always figured everyone could do that and that was normal as it has always happened to me. But as I chat with people I am realizing that it might not be so everyday. Does make me wonder why I have always had that ability or the funny feeling from the start. Maybe I am just blessed. Hard to say as it seems so normal to me lol. Thanx for ur post Jeff
Keep your breath and let it go. Do not focus on it, just allow it. It is not OBE, it is opening. So allow you to open and just be. edit* for most people yoga is the first time that they learn to breathe the way we should and that in itself can cause a sensation of OBE. It is a real breath that clears. So ground where you are and just breathe. We do not breathe as we should and that is really a shame as we go through life only half until we learn how to belly breathe....babies know, you would think it would be something we keep rather than allow all to drum out of us and have to learn again.
what u see or talk ur mind talks or think and progress in it unconsiously so if u think -ve you like to listen negative and when u think +ve you become optimistic well yoga exercise makes first u consious about yourself about ur thinking and then removes it from ur mind and then you will never get any -ve feeling but note yoga exercise r to be done in open space only or with all windows open no curtain in short there should be a natural atmosphere (speakig birds ,trees etc) if u r in any kind of tension or stress just note down ur problems go out with that chit in garden or any place u like focus on surrounding for few minutes or hours as u require and then again focus on chit and try to find out what can you do of the problems just follow these steps .just do and dont avoid to find the solution of problem.
