Mmmm, lets think... Cabal - King Arthurs dog. Fraggle - I dunno, it sounds fun, but I'm odd Gelert (Pronounced Gel-hert) - A dog from a Welsh myth, condensed greatly: A dog belonging to Prince Llewelyn. The prince left the dog along with his newborn baby while hunting, when he returned, he found blood everywhere and Gelert, no baby. Assuming Gelert had attacked the child, the prince slayed his dog. It was then he discovered his son, unharmed, laying beside the body of a great wolf Gelert had slain in protecting the baby. The prince never smiled again, and burried the dog in a little field. The town beside it became 'Beddgelert' or 'Gelerts grave'. Been there, beautfull place.
Just look around you. You'll find inspiration in something. I named a dog Nacho cuz I saw a bag of Doritos that said "Nacho Cheese flavor"
I'm sure once you meet and get to know him the perfect name will be obvious. All my animals [past and present] have been named that way, hasn't failed me yet. Being a name nerd I go with names with meanings relating to their appearance/personality. My rabbits are Branwen & Casey, which mean fair raven and fearless respectivly. Always thought Loki was a great name, could be very apt too. [he was Norse God of mischief] Good tip: Try yelling the name/s a few times, as if calling the dog over, to get a feel for them. They might not have the right 'feel'. Good luck with your new furbaby
some of my past pet name> rambo (dog), bouli (dog), axum ( horse), nelly (ponny), aisha (goat) grizette (cat) hassan (cat), marinella (ponny), sheitan (ponny). Some times the name doesn't mean anything, like bouli, in french boule something thats round/fat, which he was when he was a puppy, the name just came and stuck!
Caleb also means dog (as in has dog-like traits e.g loyal, brave. Think totem animals) We're considering adopting a dog, so of course I'm going through planning names and such. That's half the fun. Really like Gelert
