My boyfriend has pretty bad poison ivy rash (I think!)
Any tips on how to get rid of this or any good treatment to ease the itching?
    Would be most appreciated!

get some cream like ivydry or calamine lotion. If it gets really bad and spreads to his face he needs to go to the doctor, I had it that bad before. But that's what I would usually do for it, it helps dry it out so it can heal, scratching it makes it like 50 times worse though, so try and keep him from scratching.

Yea, a another way to draw out the puss is to get a wash rag wet and microwave it until it's as hot as you can stand it, then let it sit on it, but you have to be careful because the water can spread the rash, so make sure you wash the infected area.

Zanfel at the drugstore. It's expensive but there is also something similiar next to it that works just as good. (drugstore brand) You rub it on in the shower and the ursol sticks to the poison. Keep it on for 30 seconds and wash it off.

    Dombrero (SP) is another treatment.

The doctor can give him a steriod to help with the swelling.

Benedryl will help with the itch (mildly)

Poison ivy, oak, or sumack is horrible. I get it every year. I have some now on my stomach.

Good luck. I hope he feels better soon.

My husband got it last summer....he used powdered laundry detergent. He put it on with somewater, let it sit a minute or two, then rubbed it around andrinsed it off. He said it kept the itch away for hours.

And he smelled lemony fresh :D

Immediatly wash with soap and water. Take antihistamines, rub some calamine lotion on it, then cold compress.
