Help locating a book - almost impossible task!

Hi

I am trying to find a book of children's fairy stories.

I don't remember the stories at all, the reason for my search is to do with the illustrations.

I must have had this book when I was around 5 years old, so the book was a 60's book. All I really remember was that it had these wonderful illustrations of flames that had hidden faces in them, i.e. the flames were alive and had features.

There were also similar faces in furled autumn leaves, so that the leaves were alive with fairy life, i.e. the leaves and flames themselves were alive.

And, unfortunuately, that is all I have on this!

Does this ring a bell with anyone?
