    Namaste-

I have been having a re-occuring problem with carpenter and tiny"sugar" brown ants. I do not desire to hire an exterminator by any means.(I don't respect them because they kill harmless little creatures). Is there any other way I can divert the ants without having someone spray chemicals that could harm the environment and my health as well as others? Any advise/remedy could help and will be appreciated.Pm me with any comments/suggestions.

    Gracias

Have you tried searching for their entrances and blocking them off?

    Hi Stuntdragon,
I kind of no where they are coming in...But how would I go about blocking them off? That may happen that if I did block them off they turn around and go somewhere else in the house...who knows-
anything is worth a try at this point-anything environmentally safe...

You can block the pathway of ants with any type of automative grease. If you were an ant could you climb over piece of automative grease?

Put a ring of sugar arounf the nest entrance, the ants will never leave the circle. top up the suger ring every so often... let me know how that works

buy some ant killer with boric acid in it. boric acid is natural, won't harm you or your pets just the ants. boric acid also works with cockroaches.

    Good Idea whispers-
Natrual is always better. As far as the ants u guys, I have two types one is sugar the other is carpenter...so the sugar tricks may not work for the carpenter ants...they aren't after food. But, it's funny I never leave food out for the sugar ants to get or any crumbs to go after...There just around this area for some reason-many,many of them.

If it were just the piss ants, I'd tell you to put some mint down, which actually works, but you also have carpenter ants. You really need to get your house looked at(it'll probably end up tented) to see all the damage they've done. Carpenter ants are called CARPENTERS for a reason. They're eat all your wood work to hell and back. Seriously, screw them, they're ants, they'll survive; get your house inspected.

Check the stores in your area and find this shit called TERRO.you put a drop or two on a little piece of paper ,then sit it around your house. That shit works good on ALL ants.Just follow the instructions on it & ur all good.Just if you have pets you wanna make sure it is where they cant get it,& they dont eat the ants.supposedly they carry the shit back to the nest and thats why it works so good.

    Greetings,

I've found the best way is to make friends with them. Find where they are coming in. Place a bananna peel or some tasty sugary fruit compost in the bush, or place, they are coming from. Stop killing them. Seems like the more you try to kill, control or push away another part of nature the more it comes back to meet you. Just try this simple offering and of course make sure not to leave peanut-butter, honey or other trace smells on the counter. Store these in a remote cabinet.

Heres another one of lifes problems that can be solved with a quote from the simpsons.

James Taylor: Ants, huh? We had quite a severe ant problem at the vineyard
this year. I had Art Garfunkel come by with his compressor,
and we created a total vacuum outside the house, and we blew
the ants out the front door. But I'm sure you high-tech NASA
people could care less about our resort-town ways.

We had a serious ant problem and someone suggested using baby powder. It worked. The powder seems to get into their respetory system and kills them. It also doesnt harm animals or you. Just vacuum after a few days
