Ok... I don't know where this thread should belong: here or at mind fuck! I've got a hell of a problem i'm into... ar at lest I think it's a hell of a problem but I really am so confused! Here's the pro: 2 yrs ago I started listening to death, black, hardcore, metal and all this sort of music! I really loved Dimmu & Cradel and all this but since I went to a rock festival and I heard all those Hendrix songs again I just said "Why the fuck was I listening to black metal?! The second day of the festival it was Carl Palmer... and again that question mark was raised... I try to find out if I am a hippie or a metalist... I mean I still like that music but I've started to listen again to Hendrix and Thin Lizzy, Johnny Winter, Janis Joplin... and I am getting closer to this muzic but still I am not getting distant to black death. Having hippie parents they say that my true side is the hippie one... my metalist friends say that my true side is the black one, and that hippie was my childhood. Who am I?! or what am I?!
Yes but i just don't know my friends anymore, and I think it would be just like salt and sugar to got to someone and tell then that I am a hippie and at the same time a crazy metallist!
Erunhere see everybody tells you something different ... but why does it confuse. To ask who you are you might find the world is a bright mirror of all that is ... yet created by your own even as it turns round and round and does not stop. Yet to know who you are you need to be still and look deeper inside your own self, and know what you already know, and just take your time to grow. Loved your post
Man at 13 you may think you need to know who you are or what you need to be, but hell go with it all. Music is Art and inspires feelings, it does not make who you are or who you will be. If you like your metal friends, cool, if you like your hippie friends, then cool. If they are your friends they will care about you not your tastes. If they dont like it then (rated PG) F@$% em. Your far too young to have to ge through some lame ass head trip and idiotic decision based on musical preference. I would rather see you a happy, goth, mohawk, bead wearing you than a made up to fit what your freinds want you to be somebody your not.
- ) yes... I used to feel that same way. I would listen to rap sometimes cause it would make me laugh... you gotta admit some rap is pretty creative (most is really lame). any now my roomate listens to deathmetal so I love it as well (im gonna see soulfly next month)... because he introduced me to the talent in deathmetal. I just never noticed it before i guess... anyhow what im trying to say is if you can see the talent and you enjoy it... then do just that, enjoy it!, dont get stressed out or hung up on it... dont think you have to wear tie dye shirts and spike collars... but if you, do right on!!!! be happy and be young. I listen to some black,death and goth metal, aswell as hippy stuff too. I actually quite like the contrast coz i can listen to either genre depending on what mood im in. Being into different kinds of music is definitely a good thing, so dont limit yourself to one musical genre and dont worry abt it. It is perfectly fine to like black metal along side hippy stuff too! lol. From the list you gave, my immediate impression is that you simply have a well rounded musical taste. peace and love xxxxxxx
if you don't start to buy the mama's and the papas , Simon & Garfunkel, early Bee Gees and Hollies it's ok ...if it's not the case and you start to love those bands ...i can tell u friendly ...you're probably bipolar...like the singer of the Vines (he mix gentle hippie songs and furious grunge songs in the same album).

u r who u wanna be. ur only 13 and you dont ever have to put a label on urself. you can be who you want and what u want. i remember going thru a phase like that where i felt like i had to categorise meself, but i soon learnt that i didnt and nor do you! listen to what music u like what ever you feel drawn to weather its janis joplin or thin lizzy or some black metal band!! hehe xxxxxxx
