Welcome, you can not learn about the hippy movement from books or web sites, post some threads asking about it, but be carefull with who you listen to, some on here who claim to be hippies where like 3 years old just before it started to fade away, so they talk alot about something they have no clue about, so make sure you talk to the right people, and welcome again. silver with all due respect.. thats only if you accept that it did fade away.. which is untrue it just transformed and became less visible but is strong worldwide even today.. in fact, its beginning a new growth and the next several years will show a second comming of the hairy hippie..not the 1 who walks on water biut the ones who dance on clouds.. lets also not forget that books are the collected knowledge and memmories taken from multiple sources while talking to 1 or 2 hippies who were aro9und in the 60's u have the problem of the fragmented memmories so cvommon amongst the hippies of the 60s ..ya inow..any1 who tells ya they rememnber the 60s odviosly wasnt there..lol or so the sayint goes.. but when 74 rolled around did u sease to be you? no..hippies are not a thing of the 60s that was just the seed being planted the birth of a movement .. but the seed was a seed only..a sproput without a trunk to support it without the leaves to nourish it these things take time and growth and the hippie tree to follow the anology is strong today..and starting to bear fruit.. changed alot true but in no way faded away
With all due respect to you soaringeagle, I was there when it started and when it went away, books give you facts from people that have an agenda and put there own spin on it, as for it comming back, it can not as it was, it was our ideals that made it strong and those ideals are possesed by few today, and yes talking to people who really lived it can tell you the truth, and I do remember the 60s, very heady times never to be relived, however I am so happy to see people who still want it to come back, just don't think it can, not in the fashon it once was, we were all differant but we did hear the same word and that word does not seem to be around anymore, but like I said it is good to see that what we had is not forgotten. im sorry sh i know u were there in the beginning and all..and what u saw true will never be the same.. but just because its not the same doesnt mean it isnt still..the term fade away is appropriate as in to become less visible, i think globaly right now theres a regrowth it probly will never resemble what u remember, but it will become more of what you remember dreamming it coulfd be.. it doesnt have the fire it once had though more a slow boil rather then a briliant flame....the tie dyes faded ..but the color dstill remains just look at the rainbow nation and you'll see that things change but stay the same.. nearly 40 years and the peace the love and the unity has spread throiughout the world.. just like ya had hoped it would so long ago..
