Communication and Respect can be key in the foundation of any healthy relationship. This thread is aimed towards new relationships trying to start things off in the right direction. What are some topics that should be discussed early on, to ensure both partners are on the same page? Perhaps even indications or signs of unhealthy/healthy relationships.

I think its all about getting to know eachother, taking those risks, and being able to compromise and trust.

It's all about communication. It doesn't matter the order of what is revealed (unless of course it's something like: I have a kid, etc.) Respect of course. I hope to have a relationship like that, with someone capable of that...

It seems that so many people are incapable of understanding these necessities in a relationship.

Be who you are. Be truthful. Do not try and be someone you are not! This goes for both people in the relationship. Just because there are things about someone you might not like, don't try and change them or expect them to change. People are who they are. Turth and honest leads to respect....love comes along after that.

Never try and change someone into who they are not! On the otherhand never change or hide who you really are. Believing you can do this will only lead to the destruction of your realtionship.

Nobody is perfect..there is no perfect match. But you can accept and eventually love someone faults and all, if that person earns your respect thru truth and honesty.
