i've planted some poppy seeds in my garden and they're starting to germinate. however, i live in a complex of townhouses, so i can't exactly cut the pods and let the sap dry there and scrape it up....and i can't fucking stand tea anymore. does anyone know how effective it would be for me to simply slit the pod and wipe up the sap on a rolling paper and let it dry like that? i guess the question is if anyone's tried this, would i be able to even get enough onto one paper for it to be worthwhile? just needs to be enough for one person, and i suppose i could always double wrap. it just occurred to me that this may be a viable option, because my garden is somewhat fenced in and i could just slit the pods on the back side towards the house so people don't really notice it if they look in or something. i know its not likely at all, i just don't want to take any chances of running afoul of the law, considering the mushrooms in the closet...

that wouldn't be a good way to do it, i don't think.

at any rate, the difference between poppies and morning glories and stuff is that technically it IS illegal to grow poppies, they're just tolerated. people can and occasionally DO get in trouble for it, even though the seeds are sold even at places like walmart

besides, i'm mostly just curious as to whether or not my rolling paper idea would be plausible.

true, but i'd like to learn from other people's experience if possible before i try it. always best to know what you're doing.

honestly i'm growing them primarily for ornamental purposes, i'd like to more or less stay away from most opiates, but i figure if i'm growing them anyway i might as well give it a shot if it's likely to work. i don't have a lot of space in my garden, but i've got some that will be growing in a small patch outside my front door (definitely will not be harvested in any way for drug purposes, but i may decide to dry them and use them in making a wreath for my door come fall, or perhaps in a flower arrangement or something) and i'll have a somewhat larger bed by my back patio. i have two more beds by the patio and i'm thinking of growing some kind of tall ornamental grass similar to bamboo there, to give some shade and color and life to the place (people before me left nothing but bare dirt and some weeds and cigarette butts...trying to fix up a nice place to drink tea and smoke cigarettes and eat and such in warm weather without having TOO many plants to attract bees...figured something like a tall grass would be perfect)

cut them down, hang them upside down for their stalks somewhere inside and lance them as you normally would outside. put a bowl or tray under them to collect the opium. i have the same prob, as my garden is over looked. even though it fine to grow pops here, people do wonder what the fuck your doing crouching down amongst a load of poppies with a cup and a blade!
