I've seen Long Barrow in searches.

I don't know who dictated the grave marker but it says Longberry, England. I'm not sure where the Dorset area thinking came from.

 

depends what you want to research really hun... it might be better if you just google it yourself? do you want to research the history of the area or your relative in particular?... looks like there were farms and a slaughterhouse there...

 

there are many long barrows dotted around england...

 

Thank you You've been a help. I think I will pursue the research of Longbury's history for now. I've gotten as far as I can with my U.S. A. membership on ancestry.com I'm not really wanting to pay for an international membership.

Longbury Hill Lane seems to be all that is left of the name from what i can make out, but the general area was probably known as Longbury some time ago... there are rivers, marshes and farms, and it looks like there used to be slaughterhouse very near by... the nearest larger town is just east of Longbury Hill Lane... it is called Gillingham, Dorset (not to be confused with Gillingham in Kent)... erm, if anything else comes up, i'll let you know Aerianne...

 

Thank you. I had seen through my searches that Longbury was reduced to just a street name now. I will have an on line look at Gillingham just to get acquainted with the area.

I thought starlights name was starchild...Easy mistake to make when you're losing the plot.
