What are some guitarists whose technique(s) you admire? This doesn't necessarily have to mean that the guitarist is a Steve Vai or Yngwie Malmsteen type, as long as you like the way they play.
Fucking Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Robby Krieger, Kurt Cobain, Bob Dylan. Is this a trick question?
Erm, Bob Dylan? I can think of many folk guitarists much, much more technically proficient, original and plain better. Woody Guthrie, Phil Ochs to name a few.
hey, i just started learning guitar...before i broke my wrist. anywho, i'm loving looking at all these people. never heard of some of them.
When Dylan was playing folk his guitar wasn't anything special. When he went to rock it was a different story.
Bert Jansch, Davey Graham. Richie Blackmore. I don't have technical knowledge about guitarplaying though, but I really dig the guitar in modern jam/psychedelic rock bands like Tia Carrera and Earthless as well.
I was always impressed with the thumb picking of Toy Caldwell from the Marshall Tucker Band. I tried to play that way once and I just didnt have the dexterity in my thumb to do so.
Maybe so, but the thread is about guitarists whose technique you personally admire, whether or not they are the most technically proficient in their genre. By the way, lovely choices, all of you.
Quite a few guitarists whose technique I admire have already been posted so I won't repost, but here are some others: Johnny Marr Jose Gonzalez Thalia Zedek Crispin Gray Lee Ranaldo
