i remember a while back someone posted a thread about what to do with broken guitar strings. i dont remember if their was a response like this or not but i used my old guitar strings to hang up a picture...i could have used wire, but i chose the strings for sentimental value, because i know who's getting it will totally appreciate that part, but i thought hey, this is kinda crafty. Other ideas i had were to take a wooden picture frame, tie a knot in the end of a few guitar strings, make square knots or braid down the strings, or just leave them plain tie a knot at the other end and then screw them (at the knot to keep it together as they tend to untie pretty easily, also use a smidge of crafters glue in the knot but not too much as it may show) into a picture frame, for a sweet wirey border. It looks pretty cool, especially given the strings i have right now are black and gold, with a wooden frame i painted a light stainey brown. Not suggesting that everyone go out and buy guitar strings to do this, as im sure there are cheaper craft supplies for it, but if you have old ones that you feel bad throwing away, i htough this was a good idea
that would not work with most guages. MANDOLIN, btw. a modoline is a kitchen gadget that slices pre-electric cuisinart.
