Far beyond the Klatu Nebula, in the relm where everything that isn't, is, an old hippie speaks of days in the 60's and 70's. Out here amoung the stars I searched for a reply. Some said it was the 4,000 acid trips I took, and others just smile and cross the street. I really thought I was the only one left. My ideals of a carless society of happy electric transit mobile people has started to take root in Jacksonville. Who would have thought after all these light years of space travel a city in Florida would start to listen? Due to the FTA and FRA (transit and railroad administrations) I have to be squeaky clean. Life at that level sucks. Did any of my brothers and sisters survive the commune in Dunlap California? Hey Kim "where ever you are" remember the nude island near Daytona Beach? Sunburn where it shouldn't be? That giant leaf flag? How are things in Frezburg? My friends tell me we saw Jethro Tull there... Hum? Don't remember a damn thing, but I do remember focusing on my big toe! Okay, I'm the one that tossed that desk out my school window. Set fire to the trash cans, and caused a riot by raising a garbage can to the top of a flag pole between a police vs freak line. Damn near got my head smashed for that little adventure. Life is to short not to have some fun. When it slows down a bit, switch to NEW AGE - Space Music - the flashie backies are other worldly. Just me, friend to hookers, homeless, nabobs and stray animals... Everyone's BROTHER BOB
hello and welcome was it a big change when it got around the 60s did you start noticing everything start getting advanced more faster around this time? 1960 - 2008 how fast was the advancement between this time?
Wow, genuine freaks in 08' who would have thunk it? I was amazed to see 8 others log in the say "welcome home". Nice touch, gives me those warm fuzzies - that awesome feeling one can only duplicate by making love, smoking opium, or sitting in a big mound of fire ants. The only thing to exceed this experience is doing all three at once! I'm afraid I'm an incurable romantic, one that would shoot my television in order to soak in a few more hours of real music. Music is a big part of my life, when I'm not pushing or pulling for transportation alternatives. I think coal smoke smells good. One of you, my new family, asked if the changes were huge from the 60's through the 70's. Yes. There is no simple answer except to say we really DID change our world. But like all revolutions it seemed to go from sweet dreams to ungodly nightmares. Most of us vanished into the fabric of society, while others went to the extreme of living down to what the government had been saying about us all along. The right hand was extending Civil Rights to whole populations that had been left behind, while the left hand was removing Civil Rights from EVERYONE in the name of equality. There we're many mistakes, fighting a needles war was one of the biggest, but then we peace lovers, turned animal toward our very brothers that got sucked into the rice paddys by the Washington establishment. Rather then extending a loving hand. We screwed up. FROM THIS - real people - real concerns - real efforts TO THIS - in 20 years - self destruction of a dream... The music was also changing, moving from a folk - rock - blues - comedy of love thy brother and sister. To a tone of stand and fight, don't let the man take you down. (which if one thinks about it, put us all on the same level - SUCKS big time). Some groups started to tap into songs with a more violent tone. Painted like clowns they took to the stage spitting blood and splattering animals. In 20-30 years we moved from having a sort of utopia within our grasp, to spewing vile hate towards everyone. We moved from "Love the One Your With" (CSNY) to "Aqua Lung" cheering the perversions Some of us just went away, some became soccer moms or dads, some grew into business and lost their dreams in the great money chase. Someone else just commented, nice to have the "real thing", and I guess that fits well enough. I moved about living in a VW bus named "Lucy", then an old Chevy Van named "Sanford". Wandering from Washington State to FLorida and form New York State to San Diego. Always seeking, always trying to love. Have you ever walked by a paper cup someone left on the sidewalk? Sory y'all but "Hippie 101" Thou shalt not litter and thou shalt pick up after your brothers and sisters...My last 5 years or so have been spent in the Cloud forest of Colombia, my wifes home and my adopted Country. Just get out of your chair! We can still change our world. Somewhere near you is a little old lady that needs a hand to cross a busy street. Someone in your community is hungry. Those children need a park, and you have nothing but time on your hands? SHAME! Get up. Be Counted! Make things happen.. Share you love, your spirit and your time. Take me to meet your sound, you see, I think I love you. The opions on this thread are those of BROTHER BOB, and may not be the same as all other freaks. But then again, while Brother Bob embraces you all, he may not give a damn what "the man" thinks. BROTHER BOB
