Does anyone else hate greeting cards as much as I do? What a stupid idea, to buy some card for 5 bucks that has some mass produced little poem on it that doesn't say anything special from you to the intended recipient, they look at it for a minute then it's garbage. The fact that people buy these pre-fab cards that are standard and impersonal rather than take any time to say something from their heart to another really irritates me. What's worse is the Halmark holidays, actual fake holidays created to sell more cards, more garbage! Sweetest Day is a good example, man how lame.
I buy blank cards with good art for those that appreciate the "card holidays" e-cards don't kill trees, but they do inconvenience bazillions of electrons!;P I also make my own.
In Australia and the UK there are many charities that sell Xmas cards. You can help such charities by buying your cards from them. When it comes to a birthday card for my nearest and dearest I can never find a birthday card I like, so these days I usually send a post card of my local town and a photostat of an article that I think my relative will enjoy reading. This gives me something extra to talk about when I phone them up.
I sent some e-cards to some good friends I havent got to talk to in a while.man those fuckers are so cheesy!on the brite side tho,you get to write your own message.makes it a little more personal
Yeah, just another silly gimmick to spend $$$$ on the holidays, whatever holiday that might be. I'd rather make up heaping batches of fudge and make my own cards to go with em. Fudge makes people happy
I like original, artistic cards, or homemade cards. I save every card I get though, no matter what kind it is. I agree that Sweetest Day is really dumb, I never recognize it. Valentines day is pretty stupid too.
My mum and dad have a McTavishes greetings card. It is a light hearted thing -Scottish people supposidly a bit tight with their money. Anyway it is a general purpose card that is filled out in pencil -it says to do so - in order that is can be rubbed out afterwards and reused. They have been sending to each other for decades.
I buy blank recycled cards and make my own greeting cards usually. Sometimes ibuy the actual greeting card from the store, but not always. Then I take my old greeting cards to St. Jude's Ranch for children. they take the fronts off and recycle them. The proceeds go towards this ranch for sick and dying kids.
I also make my own and agree corporate greed is behind commercializing holidays for their own benefit. Screw Hallmark with their $20- $100 fake figurines that look like plastic crap!!! I like the artistic cards I get from other people but I usually make my own or get a box of cards from the Dollar tree and there's like 20 ijn the box. Then, I usually as 3-4 more to make 24 or so. so it's like I am buying them for 4 cents a card or less! I recommend it and no one usually notices or cares!
