A Greek man set himself on fire for the third time, in an attempt to take his own life. Like many people in Greece, the man is very deep in debt due to bank loans for his small business. He used a megaphone to announce that he was doing this because he was in debt to the bank right behind him. The police put out the fire with extinguishers. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/...56.html#s364167&title=Greece_Financial_Crisis
I'll tell you where he went wrong. He announced it on a megaphone. He should have done it peacefully and bathed himself completely in gasoline so that he would burn within a matter of seconds. I don't feel bad for him. For the loans, yes, but for the overall craziness, no.
On one hand I really feel sorry for the man and his desperation that he would feel the need to resort to doing this. I am very happy that his attempt to take his own life was stopped. On the other hand I feel sorry for the Greek people that he did not succeed in taking his own life. Because he might have become the final catalysis to make the Greek people say no more and taking back their nation.
Obviously attention starved...If he meant to do it, He would slice, shoot, hang...not self immolate...He is no monk, no way he could sit through it...
Next he can set himself on fire in front of the hospital with the burn unit he will be in debt to. :sunny:
or maybe shoot himself its not the bank that caused his debt its his borrowing money that he couldnt pay back...people need to start accepting their own blame instead of blaming their problems on the bank
I love how callous so many of the posters on here can be. It is without a doubt that I am being sarcastic.
So much for "Third time is the charm". I guess you can't go bankrupt over there, or is it you can't go bankrupt at the same time the goverment is?
From what I was told about Greek law. The bank can take everything you have and you will still be in debt. So it does not look like bankruptcy exists. Their taxes are messed up too. If for example you paid 500 euro in 2003 and they change the tax rate you and you need to pay more money for 2003 and they can do this for the rest of your life.
