So w/in the past few weeks the store I work @ got word from the owners that they had to cut back hours. So I went from 40 to under 30 hrs a week. They also started laying people off. Well today after I clocked out the store manager came up to me & told me that he was sure I was aware of the cutbacks & stuff & I said yeah, thinking oh shit here we go...So then he goes to tell me that they had to lay me off but offered me to work @ the fruit stand in front of the store. It's not affiliated w/ our company but it is on the same property. So supposedly the guy who runs the fruit stand is going to be calling me w/in the next few days & letting me know when I'm starting. Its less money, of course, but right now it's better than nothing. I was really pissed b/c I know it's not my fault but just random layoffs b/c our business is doing shitty. So technically I still have something for a job but for less money & who knows how many hours. I was so pissed I just came home & worked out hardcore & then after showering I went out & smoked a bowl of some nice shit & that made me feel a little better, haha.
that sucks about your job, but at least you're working at the fruit stand. who knows, if the original company starts doing better maybe they'll hire you back, considering you wouldn't need any training and such.
Word... I love how the news channels are all "Oh yeah the economy is showing signs that it is getting better" Yeah, for the big dogs up at corpo, us peons still are getting shit slung at us
Vancouver felt the "recession" for about a month, now every single house in my neighborhood has a "SOLD!" sign on it, peeps are not even thinking twice buying 800k houses
In most of the rest of the world however the unemployment rate is through the roof and still climbing, it's near 10% in this country, and if you count the underemployed it's around 17%
it's what it is.. a recession.. every generation makes it through them.. and we will too.. if anything.. its a life lesson on learning to live on less and being self sufficient.. we'll feel better later in life because we had to go through this
man ohio is becoming really really hard to live in. where i live there are next to no jobs anymore. well, no jobs that you can actually make a living at. and now they're closing down that gm factory here where i live, so theres like 1000 more people to be competing with for jobs. they keep talking about all these new businesses opening up around here, and its like, they're all retail, you can't make enough money to live by yourself or to support a family on retail, especially considering that none of them will give you full time hours. the unemployment rate is through the roof as some one said, and just think, that doesnt even include all the people who are no longer eligible for unemployment benefits.
Wouldn't you make more if you went and got a fast-food job than you do working the fruit stand? Of course, that kind of job must suck. But I don't know. Not sure how important money is in correspondence to work suckage levels to you.
Yeah. I know. I put it there thinking it was cool. And then I tried rereading one of my posts. I discovered it's much cooler than I intended. Haha. It's SOOO distracting while you're trying to read because you catch it with your peripheral vision. Good stuff And yeah. It's an illusion. No movement. None.
