    How's it hangin' fellow dreadheads?
I'm just saying my goodbyes now, and probably for a while after this. I'll get back to you guys as soon as I can after my Hiatus.

Apparently, my mom has grown weary of my bummy look. I'm a disgrace to be seen with her. Today she gave me 15 bucks and said if when she gets home tomorrow I don't have a haircut, prepare to be grounded until you cut your hair.

Basically the whole 9 yards. No friends, phone, PC, no nothing really.
I'm not going to cut my hair. I won't budge for anyone but me. If I feel like I need to get my haircut, which won't happen as of now, then I'll cut it.

My mom needs to stop being controlling over things of nonsignificance.
The best thing is though, that I brought home Interims today and I got Straight A's, and for some reason she cares more about my hair.

So I'll be seeing you fellas ( ladies in included) Take care, let dreads prosper, and Peace be with you all.

    Namaste, John.

    thats fucking so stupid.
I hate people like your mom, no offense, I know she's your mom, and you love her and stuff

    BUT WHAT THE FUCK

buy her a gift with the 15$ tell her you love her and your hair is the love of your life.

use your solitude to your meditative advantage.

fuck I used to get "grounded" so much.

But eh, I like being alone.

but your 15. if you cut them out for your mom, you can always grow them back. my dad told me to cut mine out and gave me 100 dollars for doing so. when you move out, you wont have your mom yelling at you and shit and can do what ever you want. its a possibility to just cut them and not have all these things taking away from you. im going to grow mine back sometime down the road

I don't think you should cut your hair. But damn that sucks you're getting grounded. You're mom should be nicer to you.

I don't understand how when parents are punishing kids, they always take away the little things in life that make them happy, or that they need. I think it's a dumb and cruel form of punishment. Just let the kids learn from their mistakes, and personally I don't think growing dreads is much of a mistake. It's not going to change your life.... much..... except for how you look to other people. Your mom cares way too much about that.
    But anyway, good luck.

I want to add something here:
I think the reason parents punish teens this way is because it's the only way they have control. You're not a baby anymore, and she probably won't spank you (wouldn't want her to), so all she can do is bribe you. To me that is bullshit. You've got big problems if you can't communicate with your kid and find out why they're doing what they're doing and try to respect some of it or at least try to help them with it.

Only you can know if being grounded to keep your dreads is worth it. My parents like my dreads so I haven't had any experience with what you are dealing with.
However I have been turned down from jobs because of my dreads but cutting my dreads to get a job is out of the question, for me it's like them asking for me to cut my arm off or something. My dreads are part of me.

Just play her at her own game.

Keep your dreads and take the punishment but just get under her feet at home all the time.

Don't do anything bad or get upset but just be there whenever she turns around. Be slightly in the way all the time and mildly anoying buy always with a smile.

Wear her down with kindness and pleasentness.

Let her see that your locks mean more to you than the trivial things in life and that you are happy as long as you still have them

    most importantly be nice

    See who cracks first

    Hey people, how's it going?

I've managed to get online a couple mintues before she gets home. She's on her way this very minute, I actually can't wait, lol.

I think some of you misunderstood, she gave me 15 bucks because that's the price of a haircut at the barbershop. Sh'es already offered me 100 dollars, or an iPod, or things of that Nature. I think you guys would agree with me when I say my Dreads mean more to me than material objects, it's just another form of attachment, which in term leads to suffering.

    Mamos

That's clever. I've been doing that for quite some time now, but not to that extent. I've never really just been in her way, but everything she does to me, I reward her with kindness. I guess we'll see who cracks first then.

Using my time in isolation is a GREAT advantage for my Meditative life.
    That's an excellent idea!
    C'est un Bonne Idee!
    Es una buena idea!!

I guess this is where we really part ways. Take care everybody.
