Hello all! I've never been on any pill before, but I'm going to start taking Microgynon tonight as recommended by the doc, mainly to sort out my irregular and painful periods, but also as a contraceptive. I am a bit concerned about the side effects I might face- partly as I am starting uni in a months time and don't particularly want to be an emotional mess for what will be a stressful time anyway! I was wondering if anyone has any info about their experiences with this pill? And also, if I'm really suffering on it, what is the soonest I can safely stop taking it? Can I just quit midway through a pack? Can I stop after the end of one pack? Or am I committed for longer? Please reply asap, it would really help me! xx
Hello I've been taking Microgynon 30 for almost a year. My periods are less painful than they used to be and they're regular now, which is great. And I haven't suffered any negative side effects. However, that changes from person to person. 2 of my friends used to take it, but one stopped because she put on a lot of weight and the other stopped because she said that at some points during her cycle, her PMT was so bad, she felt like killing people. She used to have huge arguements with her friends and family and broke up with her boyfriend. At first she didn't put it down to the pill, but she stopped taking it, and things got much better. But don't let that worry you because you can stop taking it at any time.
