God I hate debating with people

I was just debating with Dan the possible negative effects of people breeding pure breed dogs. I was talking about how there are millions of euthinized cats and dogs by the humane society every year and I MENTIONED that SOME of these deaths could be prevented by people NOT allowing pure breeds to have puppies, that way more people would go to the pound to get half or part. breeds, etc.

well, for some reason that turned into a HUGE argument. a huge argument. god, i didnt know that because somone disagrees with an IDEA that you have that you share out loud, that it can turn into a fight.

God, I hate people. No wonder I typically prefer to be alone.

I'll only debate on here now...seriously, i hate doing it with spoken words. i loved it when I was around college age, but i don't have the energy to keep arguing religion and politics by talking....of course sometimes i amforced into it.

 

me and my hubby have this problem every day. and its over the same thing. he wants a purebred blue pitt. I however want to go get a lil mutt puppy from the haven... i love mutts! seems they have so much more personality then these pure bred/inbred dogs!! and it helps keep the number of animals put to sleep way down......... i hate that the shelter run out of room and can't turn anyone away so they put these animals down!!!!!!!! i wish i could take em all home with me.

having an open converstation with certain people is cool but some get too caught up with the argument. passion is great to have but also annoying....

My wife works at a vet hospital and she tells me that people have a lot more problems with pure-breeds than muts. People with pure-breeds spend A LOT more money at the vet for their "very expensive" pets due to all of the inbreding going on. Dogs that are muts live longer and are a lot healthier.............

I don't mind a good debate every once in a while, but I hate arguing with idiots who think they're right no matter what. We know this one guy who thinks the entire world owes him a favor..he steals shit, rips folks off, just a really shitty dude...if you EVER bring up politics with him he's blatantly racist and his attitude toward world hunger and shit is "go ahead and let the little ragheads die, just one less we'll have to deal with later on.."

How do you argue logically with something like that?!? There are times when I'd much rather strangle him than talk to him.
To be honest, I don't know too many people that have real debates. Maybe it's just an ignorant redneck thing, but around here they're just to stupid and don't have a clue about what they're saying.

EDIT: sorry, i didn't bring up animals. The dude I was just mentioning hates my cats, though. We've had many a conflict about him threatenming to kill my kitties. Son of a bitch better watch himself.

I bought my pure bred miniature schnauzer from a breeder. Delaunay has a better personality than any mutt I ever had. I take in strays, but I don't go to the shelters. I give the humane society money so they can build a bigger shelter and keep the animals alive longer, but for some reason the dogs I've gotten from shelters are very mean. When I was two my mom got me a dog from a shelter and it attacked me for no reason. People need to rescue animals, but if they are going to buy a pure bred they should buy them from breeders that take care of their animals, not pet shops. Oh and about pure breds having more problems, that has never been true with my experience. Delaunay has a rare blood disease, BUT any dog can have it, pure bred or mutt. All the mutts I ever had were always sick, and died early.

 

I love debating, as long as I am not debating with:

1) Idiots
2) Religious People

The first kind are just incapable of peoducing an intelligent response, while the second kind deny any point that contradicts anything that is said in whatever piece of fiction they worship.

 

Yeah, Pavel, that's how i feel when I debate my mom. She is a huge Christian, which I have no problem with, however, she takes her compassionate conservatisum to an extreme at times. For example, I tried to talk to her a few times about why gay marriage should be legal and she will not hear it. She told me "I have no problem with being friends with a gay person but a sin is a sin. All sins are equal. I personally over-eat and that that sin is just as great"... i say something like "okay, mom, that's good but.... and i give about 5 logical arguments which i am too lazy to post now..... and there is NO point to me saying them. she's so religious that she is STUCK in how she feels.


and anyways, moonshyne, that's freakin hilarious. ive known people that make me frustrated like that when we debate. makes me wanna bash my head into a wall.

Update though... dan and i have reconsiled and we BOTH realize it was just a debate and no reason to get upset. good thing.

 

i like arguing on the internet some, but i find it too tiring, in real life.


as for the animal debate. i quit my job at the animal the other day, because i was sick and tired of having to put animals to sleep, because of overpopulation. it was giving me nightmares. if people knew what really went on at the shelters, they would give it more thought before they went to a breeder or pet store.

also, for anyone hell bent on getting a purebred dog, you should still sheck out the local shelter. up to 1/4 of shelter dogs are purebred. in the month that our shelter has been open, we have had purebred beagles, rotts, pit bulls, dobermans, chihuahuas, labs, etc etc.
