We just started dating so I do not want to go all out just yet, you know?

But I still want to do something thoughtful, so how does this sound?

    -Little teddy bear
-and he will be wearing some earrings, that are the same color as her birth stone
-Green scarf (she really liked my green winter scarf, so I got a spring scarf with a similar color)
-Mixed cd of the songs she really likes. She's been asking about these songs for a while now.
-She really liked this photography book I had on my table in the living room, so I might try to find a similar book in a similar style.

Not so bad, yes? Nothing totally expensive, but still thoughtful I think. I prefer lots of small gifts rather than a big one anyways.

Of course, I will treat her to dinner too.

What gifts do you like to get for your gf (or bf if that does not apply)?

What do you want to give her a gift for? Or "just because"?

maybe consider a gift of an experience rather than a material

OK, the CD is pretty cool and something I have done in the past.

The book? Yeah, if you know what she's into, why not?

But a fucking teddy with birthstone earrings?? Are you kidding me? I've never understood a grown man giving a grown woman a cuddly fucking toy. I couldn't think of anything more thoughtless/pointless. How old is she?

Go with the mix tape and play it off like you're cool and weren't about to give her a teddy bear.

    I can imagine.
Here is the exact same. And I can't stand it. At a recent uni graduation that I went to there were girls giving guys huge fucking teddy bears. What is a 22 year old bloke supposed to do with one of those?

Anyway, why do you want to give her something that is so common. Stick with the personalised gifts.

i'd say, give her whatever makes you happy, and it'll make her happy too.
for me, there's more pleasure in the giving than receiving and happiness has a way of spreading. :)
and a cd of her favourite songs can give you both pleasure, good choice.
she's a lucky girl to have such a thoughtful fella. :)

could you name some gorilla warfare?

of course, if she's scared shitless of snakes or summat, then she wouldn't be best pleased, but it seems from what carlfloydfan put in his original post, he knows his girlfriends tastes and what she likes and doesn't.

using me and my ex as the example couple:

call of duty 4.2 (she hates the game)
remastered beatles albums (she hates how i love them)
    running shoes (she hates running)
workout clothes (she hates working out)
wes anderson movies (she finds them boring)
james bond novels (she hates reading)

after making this list i realize we had very, very little in common.

i'd go to the dollar store and fill a box with random dollar toys and such. then put some pictures of yourself and friends in the box. then put some short/cute/poetic type notes in the box. then throw in a few dominos, paper cranes, chess pieces, playing cards, jelly beans, reeses cups, etc.

and then mail it to her.

my girl loves to get mail, and opening this box full of stuff is just about the coolest thing for her. she gets this look on her face like its christmas morning.

the stuff doesn't even have to be great or expensive, its fun to just go through the box of stuff.
