My doctor told me I was lucky that I got pregnant when I did. He found really bad cells on my cervix that would have become cancerous if they hadn't been found when they were. I had surgery yesterday to get them removed. It's wild to think that my little 'surprise' actually saved my life. I love my son so much!
i had the same experience after i had my first and went back for the check-up...had to get my cervix frozen with nitris!!! what a weird feeling! lol
yea it was pretty scary hearing that. But I'm glad I got pregnant and I'm glad he was smart and didn't tell me while I was pregnant just how close to cancer I was.
The doc wants me to get a biopsy from my cervix to see if my cells are cancerous does it hurt and will i need to have the same kind of operation done? (getting the cells frozen off) - and does that hurt? i mean i have had 2 children, i know what pain is and have a high tolerance for it. but when it comes to something scary like cancer, i think it makes the pain worse because of such worries impeding it. what do you think?
depends- if your pregnant they cant give any medication. I was when he did a colposcopy (basically cut a piece off the skin) and it hurt but I'm also a big baby Now I had a cold knife conification to get mine removed and I dunno if that is the same as freezing... but I was under general anesthesia (sp??) so I woke up after all was said and done. See I didn't even know it was cancer b/c he didn't tell me b/c I was pregnant and there was nothing he could do til after I had Trey anyway so he didnt want me worried the whole time I was preggo. But Im glad he did that. I was told after the surgery. If you have any more q's? I'll try and answer them as best as possible
i am only 24, can i get cancer at this age? i suppose so but it doesn't run in my family or anything but then again if my boyfriend gave me hpv or something than i suppose that would cause cancer than wouldn't it *sighs*
