Ya really want them under light soon as they come up but would of thought a couple of days be ok but not idea. Mj comes up as a loop with the head facing down and the middle upwards breaking the soil takes a day or so to straighten so ya have a few days margin but if ya leave too long most seed plants would tend to grow long and be a yellow to white colour so ya have to watch out for that.

i find that the majority of seeds sprout in the 5-12 day range, but can take up to 3 weeks sometimes.

i started 16 seeds on monday by soaking them in water for 3 hours then planting. ill let you know when they start sprouting

Next time try germinating them in a wet paper towel until a root breaks the seed so you know whether or not they are good to grow

Germ in damp paper kitchen towel at 75F between 2 pyrex dishes wrapped in bubble for 24 hours then plant take 3-4 day before they spout at same temp. I find in a box or closed set up if ya do a lot of seeds the one's that take longer then 4-5 days dont tend to catch up and get crawled out.
    Q. Is there a link between method of germ and the male to fem count?

ive heard the amount of nitrogen during veg can influence the gender SLIGHTLY.

I personally dislike the paper towel method, as these seeds typically have little or no trouble sprouting in plain soil conditions. A few-hour soak before regular planing may help to reduce the time by a day or two, depending how much moisture the seeds could take in during that time.

Agree mj seeds you buy today will germ in soil and grow without the paper towel method. Back in the days when all you could really get was seeds from imported brick weeds in the uk the germination method would ensure you did.nt wast time time planting duff or damage seeds. I use the paper towel method more out of habbit then anything else but if ya using bag seeds then I'l say for the above reasons use the towel method.

    um, kay?

anyways, i said id update, and ive got good news/results:

since planting 16 seeds on monday afternoon, within 6 days, 10 seeds have successfully sprouted. I expect the remaining 6 will follow shortly.

with these seedlings, my growroom has re-opened, and 46w of cool-white flourescents have been set to a 15 hour cycle (will increase amount/time of light as the seedlings become larger-ive got the current capacity for 230w of flourescent light)

EDIT: MONDAY UPDATE: at 7 days from planting, 12/16 seeds have successfully sprouted through the use of my above method.

generally, i expect about 70-90% of seeds to sprout, usually in less than 2 weeks.

however, ive had a little tiny seed (kindof pathetically small) take 18 days to sprout.
