In holland we pay 6.4 Euro for a gallon gasoline. That is about 8 dollars a gallon.
We have the most expensive gasoline in the world. We are getting fucked by our government.

for non-US posters, how much of your gas price is actually tax?
In the US it is the only item that is tax included (we get prices like $3.09.9 gee, just round it up....) In Colorado, I pay 44 cents in taxes per gallon. The price above was last night's average, although some tiny spots had not yet restocked and were at $2.99.9

i suppose we just got hooked on a substance and then the dealer just put up the price. the whole world moves on oil, without it we can neither eat nor move. the control and aquisition of this substance is paramount and this is why america like any old junkie had to get into iraq. expect to keep paying more especially when the states attacks the next oil shoppe over in iran.

Here in OZ, some states are at $140 a litre for unleaded which is severe. We have 2 cars, one unleaded and one gas. We now use the gas more since it's only 43c. It's completely worth it, if you can afford the $2000, to convert your car over.

You can have your car converted from petrol (unleaded) to gas (LPG). It can cost around $2000 but is worth it financially.

Now that we've established exactly what the problem is, what can we do about it? From my point of view, I think we just have to adjust to it. Buy a bike, or, as localhippy said, walk. Take a bus. Does anyone else have other suggestions?

Well like I mentioned in the other thread: Boycott ½ the oil industry. Don’t buy any oil from Exxon/Mobil, or Hess and buy only from Sunnoco, Texaco etc. I also suggest not buying gas on the weekend.

I hate to sound like a broken record here, but we here but we have to show the oil companies that we the consumers have the power. Not them! If we keep paying then they will continue to raise prices.

The question is, how do we get the consumers to stop being sheep?
