I have been going to St. Louis for a few months now because I have made a lot of friends from Schwagstocks in the past and from Spookstock, and Evestock. I stay with different friends I have met, and we (all) go to this bar/club every Tuesday to see 'The Schwag' play (Grateful Dead tribute)! Out of all the places I have gone in this world, St. Louis really feels like home to me. The vibe there is beautiful, and the is so much to do!!! I love the music scene, and there are lots of art museums, and interesting places to shop, eat, relax, etc. I've been to lots of big cities and they are cool- and I know people, but there is just something wonderfully unique about St. Louis that keeps me coming back. This should probably be in the USA forum, but no one really goes there. Does anybody else ever go to St. Louis? If not, does anyone know of other cool cities like this? That they feel just so "at home" in??? The strange this is this: of all the people I have encountered in my life, most hate the place they live. But nearly everyone I have met that lives in St. Louis ---LOVES IT!!!! To me, that says a lot.
Okay- my secound question for this thread is if there is any city you feel this way about, what city is it???
my beach... i call it mine even though i dont live there. just stay there for 3 weeks to three months of the year.
ahhh st louis is my town. I go there every so often (IM a huge cardinal fan, have been since I was a little kid). my brother lives there now, and he enjoys it there. I go to visit him probably every 6 months or so?? but yeah, I pretty much know st louis like the back of my hand.
Ive seen the schwag quite a bit too, they usually come here to lawrence quite a bit...... I know they are from st louis, and the play alot at ciceros..... I try to get my brother to go see a schwag show, but he doesnt like the whole hippy/jam band scene.
St. Louis is home to me. That's where I grew up, at least since I was old enuf to remember. Not that I'm there now... But, there's a chance I'll be going to grad school there! If you get a chance, there's another St. Louis based dead cover/tribute band called Jakes Leg (http://www.jakesleg.com/) that's pretty good, at least they were on the rare occasion when I can catch them out here in Columbia. If you're into the Rainbow Family, have you been to Mocabe's? Is that even still going on?
Hey- I have heard of Jake's Leg, but never listened to 'em. I will have to do that! I am not into the Rainbow Family (meaning I just don't know much about it), but I have been thinking about looking into it.
I got into the Rainbow Family thing for a while there a few years ago. Back then, on Wednesdays during warm weather, a bunch of Rainbows would get together at a coffeeshop down on Grand & hang out & usually have a drum circle in the park across the street... I haven't been around for like, oh, 5-6 years now (god I feel old now!), so I have no idea if anyone does that anymore... But it was fun while it lasted!
