So i was out of town and bounced a check. When i got home i had about 15 days of $5 charges PLUS the $30 bounce fee. I got that cleared up but when i deposited $ i balanced the book like i was starting at ZERO when i was actually starting at -$80. So, i'm now hemorraging cash. I have NO money to make the account catch up until next week and by then i will have $200+ bounce charges (hopeing i can get them to waive the $5/day)... anyway i hate when this happens, hate it more when it happens because of a stupid mistake.
My bank has made mistakes before and my account would stay fucked up.. I call the bank and find out what can be done, or I close that account and transfer all the money I have/had/will have into a new one.. The bank I use, once they fuck up it stays fucked up.. Hopefully you'll get it fixed..
ergh im sorry that happened to me a couple of years ago...200 dollars in fees made me never bounce again. sorry weve all been there.
yea, my account might be going below zero in july. my gym membership is going to put me under...so yea, i'm awaiting the fees...woohoo
its called financial responsibilities,,,,,, plain n simple,,, why you cussin out the banks when tis indeed only your own carelessness, lack of responsibilities that caused it in the first place,,, i have had me plenty a bank accounts n they always give you them handbooks for dummies with money...... yea the one you just file in a cabinet n never read or just simply chuck it in the burn barrel .... sounds to me like it aint the first time ya have done this sorta thing,,,, maybe you oughtta take an accounting course or something,,,,, business or home management or hell maybe since you dislike banks so much dont have an account...
i love banks....everytime i go into the one here witha bunch of change to get cash their machine breaks and they usually overpay me.
that sucks. that happened to me before and it can be a bitch. does your bank have over draft protection or anything like that? i know the bank i go to (m&t) and it's well worth it... you might wanna look into it *at my bank it's free*
ask for couple hundred overdraft protection keeps thoes missshaps from happening. but it wont get you into into massive debt. just make sure you dont use it regulalry. I have $2000 overdraft protection in my checking acount, wich i dont use to often. Its free for me unless i use it, then i get charged interest on whatever i owe. But at 7.8% interest, Its a hell of a lot cheaper than a credit card. oh I dont even deal witt a bank, I use a credit union. usually a smaller companiy and they let you vote on various isues, and on who runs the place.
It has happened to alomost everyone with a checking account, no more the reason for the bank knowing this, to charge me once $50 for less than $10 in 2 cks written. Was only/first time over 5 year period...no regard. It didn't matter, the bank didn't care, because of the PROFIT from me and all. How much $$$$$ have they made in 'fees' of all posters so far? They are all crooked profit hungry, institutions with no regard to consumer loyalty. Use cash.
Banks can be really stupid sometimes. Turns out my bank account wasn't in my legal name for oh, 7 years or so. I got a cheque written out to my legal name, forgot to bring a pen with me so I just deposited the cheque without signing it (no pens at the ATM's after all). A couple days later they called me at about 1pm, said to call them back by 3pm, I got home at 6 and got the message. Had a giant midterm the next day so I was on about 2 hours of sleep when I went down to the bank to find out what was up... they mailed the cheque back to me because it wasn't made out to me. DUH, it was made out to my legal name, not just my middle and last names. I think they put a note on my account to do whatever I say now, since I started crying at the lady there :S. The other tellers were very nice, but that one girl was a bitch, saying I should've told them it wasn't in my legal name. wtf, like I'm supposed to know that they were too stupid to request any ID when my grandma set my bank account up. But they've been really nice since, they probably have me labelled as a crazy lol.
Yup... i said it was my fault. I was tired of cussing myself though and thought i would cuss the bank for charging $30 for a $3.56 debit transaction. Thanks to y'all that *get* what i'm saying
i remember I was in the hole .17 cents the the bank charged me 30 bucks for it.. wish i could just keep my money in a shoe box on my fridge..
I have never bounced a check... I know how much is in my account at all times so if the money isnt there I wont take it out... Plain and simple... It sucks that they have major fees when you overdraft... But If you know how to handel your money it wouldnt happen
dont feel bad.....the last time I had a bank account, Somewhere a 33 cent error was made, and my account overdrafted 33 fuckin cents. By the time I came up with the money to pay the $30 fee, I had racked up almost 250 in other charges and shit. Fuck banks. Its a losing battle once you get in debt with them. I gave up and never did pay them back
