I just had the last of my absinthe. Just a shot left. Took it straight... Goddamn! I have been so used to pussy wine coolers, beer and smooth wines that a straight shot of fucking absinthe burns all the way down--two minutes later...*whew* Now, I know why I stopped taking shots.
what proof is it? i've seen absinthe offered online (never bothered to find out if its legit, and too expensive for me to order liquor shipped from out of the country....way too heavy ) that says its like 120-140 proof....seems a bit steep to me when you can have a couple shots of some 80-100 proof spiced rum and a bong load of KB and be good for most of the night instead.....
things in the 80-100 proof range, no problem for me....might burn a little, but it goes away quick enough. now if it was more than 50% alcohol...whew boy, then i have some trouble....can't do the 151, thats for damn sure!

heh, my sister has this 190 proof stuff she bought in west virginia. It's still unopened, really just decoration...but just thinking about drinking that makes my throat burn.

The alcohol content of absinthe isn't the punch. The wormwood grade is what gives you that feeling that is somewhere between too much Maker's Mark and the proper cut of fresh, Asian heroin. And it's well worth the possibility of getting caught bringing it into the US illegally
actuly not realy,if its not for human consumption then you can buy sell or do whatever with it other then drink it,but if it looks like its used to drink then its illegal, so if you got a bottle of absinthe sent to you and customs thinks your going to drink it, you arnt going to ever see that bottle again,thats why most absinthe now adays sucks because it has to be made and shiped from a country in which its totaly legal

Ahh absinthE got a bottle in spain about a year ago...absenta something or other it was called, really strong aniseed taste to the stuff and if you drink it straight it burns like hell haha the worst ive ever felt burning, far stronger than vodka, usually about 68% vol. Go for distilled absinthe with a high Thujone (chemical in wormwood) content if you want the decent stuff but it is very expensive. Saying that I got the spanish absinthe for the equivalent of about £9. Ahh everything is so much cheaper abroad!! have some La Fee absinthe made in Paris i bought from Tesco's supermarket for £20 the other week will let you know what thats like
Ahhh...another bottle on the way. Fuckin' tolerance level...I had 7 margaritas last night and got a fairly good buzz (what it used to take 2 or 3 to get). But, I suppose that is a good thing, just not good economically.
