free speech infringed upon...

Well, not that this comes to any surprise to me, but today our freedoms were totally violated at school. We recently started a Young Democrats Association, which is obviously going to be a controversy in our conservative school, and today my friend and I spent most of our first period putting up flyers advertising it because we have our first meeting tomorrow. Apparently they happened to piss off some of the more conservative teachers at school, although they contained nothing biased or discriminating in any way and even welcomed open minded conservatives, so the principal informed our sponsor that we had to remove all of our flyers because they were "too political." Even all the teachers I showed them to agreed that it was absolutely ridiculous that they made us take our posters down. There was nothing wrong with them at all.

Funny thing is, the conservative christian club, First Priority, have their religious signs taped up everywhere throughout the school.

Hmm.... if that's not discrimination, I don't know what is.

Oh well, although it pisses me off, I'm sure this will work out to our advantage. People seem to be getting more interested this way.
I guess we'll see how things go tomorrow at the meeting.

I'm just so sick of this bullshit.

 

whoa whoa, i'd be pissed off too! they can't do that shit, i would take that up with the superintendent, or get a petition going, get all the teachers and students to sign it... do something, we've GOT to do something before its too late...

 

thats soo fucking lame how you're school made you do that...theyre like shutting down youre minds, i wonder often if they want us all to be close minded idiots..

I thought of a petition, but I'm not sure if that will be as effective as we need. Surprisingly quite a few teachers were actually mad that they made us take the flyers down actually, so I'm sure we could find a few more that would get involved. But we do have two that are helping us fight it. They are actually planning some experimental stuff right now, which should be interesting. But, like I said, I don't think we'll know much more until tomorrow when we can discuss it fully as a group.

He wrote a book, with factual information, about how he thinks that the U.S. government, especially Dick Cheney, planned and carried out the Sept. 11th attacks, possibly in conjunction with Bin Laden.

He's not a conspiracy therorist, either. He's a well-respected journalist.

well hell, i think thats great, i hope the book gets the attention it deserves, sounds like a real eye opener, these eyes are are already pretty open though.

Heh, don't count on it getting too much press coverage. I'm pretty excited about reading it, though. It's supposed to come out sometime this month in bookstores.

 

the sad thing is...considering that we both live in east tennessee...everyone is really conservative and probably wouldn't listen that much anyway.

 

hmm... maybe we should all purchase the every last copy and put them on peoples doorstops with their newspapers, or replace newspaper bin dispenser thingies with them, or maybe just advertise it in a cool logical way...

This is just me... but if there werent anything wrong with the flyers and they were advertising for a school organzied group...I would put up as many flyers as possible at a time, maybe early in the morning when the school just opened, in places like inside washroom stalls, in desks, etc... hmm
