free presents, anyone?

i have a proposition for all of you. i stole this idea from a note that's spreading like wildfire around facebook. i thought that since we have a pretty awesome community going on in this thread, we could get it going here as well. read on...

the idea behind this project is simple: by sharing unique, handcrafted gifts freely, we're creating a self-sustaining wave of positive goodness! the more we share, the more it goes on!

so, here's the deal: the first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me. my choice. for you.

anyone can participate. be sure to read this note all the way through before you commit to it, though! this offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

-what i create will be just for you, and i'll definitely put a lot of love in it.
-i will make no guarantees that you will like what i make! i promise to try.
-you will have no clue what the item is going to be. it could be a story or a cd, a piece of handmade jewelry or clothing. i may draw, paint, collage, or design something. i might bake you something and mail it to you. i may grow you a plant. who knows? not you, that's for sure!
**if you are a vegan or have any sort of food limitations, please tell me!**
-i reserve the right to do something extremely strange.
-when you request (with your address!) i'd love to know something helpfully random about you, but that's not needed, just appreciated - and by helpfully random I mean favorite colors, what sort of music you like, sizes of any sort, etc.

the catch? oh, the catch is that in order to receive a gift, you have offer up
your gift-making/cookie-baking/poetry-writing/etc. talents to five other lucky people who want to participate. if you participate in receiving, you must participate in giving. so if you aren't going to follow through and make something for five others, you get nothing. come on people, who doesn't like getting mail?

in an attempt to keep this as organized and non-hijacking of the entire dreadlocks forum as possible, i suggest that we keep this entire project in this one thread. if you'd like to participate, pm people your addresses and post here that five presents of yours are up for grabs!

i do have 10 peices of somrthijng special i made for years, but they are the last 10 i will ever have so may only give away a couple and find other things for other ppl

sure, there's no rush to get the presents out. i think that would diminish the value of true homemade gifts, if ya know what i mean. maybe when someone pm's their address, the gift-maker can reply with a general idea of when they'd be receiving it, just out of courtesy.

 

lil confusedtho do i get 5 things from u then give 5 to someone else or 1 to 5 ppl .. and if 1 to 5 ppl ..do i still get 5 from you?

you offer up 5 gifts, giving 1 to each person you asks for one from you. then, once you've asked to receive somebody's gift, you offer up 5 gifts to any 5 people who first respond. so essentially you could ask multiple people, just as long as you give as well. we don't want any freeloaders! that takes away all the fun.

so you'd get 1 from me. and maybe i'd ask for 1 from you! the more people that participate, the more presents go around!

This is a really cool idea. What about creepers though... like I dont know if I would like to tihnk I am getting a gift or have them read my adress on there package and a week later have some creeper from bumblefuck lookin in my windows hahahaha !!!
