Hi, this probably sounds really dumb, but I have been really interested in learning about this for a while now and I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the basic stuff you need in order to make trance/techno music. I would really like to learn the basics of making this music. Are there any good sources out there that are instructional on this? Right now, I just need the basics. Like, I've heard stuff about turntables and other such things, but I really need like a beginners version of it, and then I think I could take it from there. I'm pretty good at teaching myself stuff, but I do need to know at least the jargon and the basics first.

Thanks a lot for any help. Peace.

go there. it's a drum and bass board but the technical difference between trance and dnb is minimal to say the least, only a matter of tempo. that thread links to hundreds of other threads regarding music production using computers, keyboards, to full blown hardware setups (not to mention headphone comparison, monitor comparison, soundcard comparison, they touch on everything regarding recording/sequencing/mastering...). any question you could possibly have is probably answered there... if you have any other questions, feel free to ask... :)

Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! I will sort through all that info and if I have anymore, I will ask.

    Namaste.
