ok, maybe its a little early to post this, but thats what i want to do. im saving up a bunch of money and want to buy a large bus and follow tool during their entire tour next summer. tool is the greatest band i have ever heard in my entire life and i am completely willing to abandon my home and my job to follow their tour across the country. this would be a dream come true. to see them them perform over and over and over again by any means neccesary. would anyone else want to do this? anyone who feels the same way that i do about this band is welcome to join me. i even know where i can get a bus perfect for the occasion. i dont have all the details worked out yet tho, but i have plenty of time to do that. im just wondering if anyone else thinks this is a great idea. suggestions for the trip are welcome, as well as anyone who wants to go. tell me what ya think!

no one puts on a better concert....

we'll just get in a bus, eat when were hungry, drink when were dry and if the sky doesnt fall on us we'll live til we die

yea. the only problem i can really think of is the ticket money. im thinkin we could just hop over a gate or somethin, i've done that a few times before. but it wouldn't work every time. im savin up a few thousand dollars for this trip. (gas, food, water, ciggarettes) im dead serious about it. im thinkin if i run out of money tho i can always make t-shirts or necklaces or something in the back of the bus. but donations would be welcome for anyone who wants to board! but i wont force money about of anyone. thats not what this is about. this is about the freedom of music and ultimately of life itself. im really looking forward to doing this. suggestions anyone? id appreciate it! peace

Before you judge me.... keep in mind this is coming from someone who has spent the last few years following various bands around the country. I am not trying to discourage you, but just think about a few things first.

Having seen Tool a few times, and although they put on a mind-blowing performance, they seem to repeat the same setlist almost every show. Like I said thier performance is amazing, but take into consideration seeing them play the same songs every night. It might get kind of boring.

Part of what makes touring possible is the "tour family". Having other people who are doing the same type of thing you are, who are willing to help you anytime you might be in need, and you to do the same for. Tool is kinda lacking this type of scene. If you plan to travel in a large group, however, it could work..... but that means being around your "family" 24/7.

Some bands or venues don't allow vending of ANYTHING in thier lot. Before you decide you're going to try to sell stuff, find out what the band's policy is. Especially things like unlicensed t-shirts and stickers. You could find yourself getting harrassed by the cops on a regular basis.

Lastly, if you plan on gate-crashing on a regular basis, you WILL wind up in jail at some point. Trust me, i speak from experience.

Like i said, I'm not trying to discourage you. Just remember that what you want to do takes a lot of dedication and work. There is also much you will learn on the way, so more power to you if you decide to go. Hope i've been helpful.

    Peace,
    Stagger Lee

PS- I just so happen to have a school bus for sale if you're interested.

tool? now you're definitely talking. I'd be more than down with hopping on for a leg of the tour, but I can't give them a whole tour's worth of revenue from me... a 10 - 20 show run would be nice though... just have to afford the tix... i'm in pennsylvania.

ok. so how do you get into all of those shows? i find it hard to beleive tickets can all be paid for, unless money is saved up far in advance or your a good businessman. gate chrashing is a bad idea, so in your experience, what is a good idea?

Like i said, a lot of touring depends on your tour family.
Most bands that have a tour following have people that are more than willing to get rid of thier tickets for free/less than face value.

Feel free to gate crash if you want, but don't say i didn't warn you when you're sitting in a cell in some strange city.

Tool is one of my favorite bands......I would follow them every tour if I could, even if their set is likely the same everyshow...........which it mostly is. Doesnt matter to me though. I would be totally down with hooking up with some kind strangers to tour for the summer........whether or not that will actually be possible.....who knows......but a good idea nonetheless:)
