I've been saving up my seeds all year. I know this little spot in the woods near a creak where I'm thinking about growing a little field.

What do I need to know to at least get some half decent middies? Depending on the quality it's probably just going to be for personal use. So how do I keep animals away and how am I gonna want to set this up?

okay, so there are no "middies." When you grow bud, you grow it for quality, and when growing bud outdoors it is really easy to yield quality kind bud (crippy,Dro,sensi, w-e term u like) If your seed vendor is legit and you have quality genetics, and you do a little bit of research, then there is not a whole lot you can screw up. I say, if you want potent kind bud go with chem. nutes, superthrive, bud blood, etc. If you want mild 'mids' then use all organic nutes.
As to your pest problem question, this is always a risk you take, the pest you have to worry about are the bugs. (research!) there are many different homeade and/or organic recipes for so called repellents, but in my opinion this is what they make pesticides for and I assume your planning on smoking the shit and not eating it so spray away. And besides this is why you flush the roots out for a couple weeks before harvest. good lucky buddy
