I've made a lot of progress these past 2 summers, especially this one, in getting confident about going bf into many more establishments. This year, I've been into Walmart several times, with no problems. I've seen many "associates" and managers during these visits, only a few have looked down, and did nothing.

Until yesterday. The official "greeter" or whatever it is, stationed at the entrance of the nursery section, where I needed a few fertilizer items, seemed to be looking for it. Told me I can't come in here bf. I told him, don't be silly, I don't have shoes over half the year, and won't until November. Told me, well, you can't. I just went on by.

I've stated before I don't want this confrontation, or, if I do get confronted, I want it kept light.

I flashed him the two $20's and shopping list I had in hand, told him I had money to spend here. He said: (get this) "That don't mean nothin." That's when I knew not to bother arguing with this little one any further. He called to me that he was going to have to get a manager. I was already browsing by then, and I told him to do whatever he wanted. I heard him go on the PA with the familiar "A member of management to the outdoor department" or whatever it's called. I finally found my plant food, got in the line, which extended into the store itself, and during the long wait I was noticed by several managers who did/said nothing, then paid.

On my way out by this angry person, I flashed him my receipt since he's the chap who we're all supposed to report to upon finishing our custom at Walmart. I resisted the strong urge to chide him his rudeness---only gave him one of my looks--he looked away from my receipt and said, "I don't need it."

I only won the minor skirmish. This was a person who loves the control freak thing. Most others don't bother, whether there's a rule in that monolithic giant or not. I haven't won (or lost) the war (if any is needed) against Almighty Walmart. Yet. I'll go in bf sometime next week if and when the need arises. Meanwhile, the list of places which DO welcome me bf keeps growing!!!

I can't wait for the day I walk into a store, and after having a confrontation like that, then have the manager chew out the employee for being so rude!

Been to Wal Mart a few times with no problems from the greeters. Its weird because if you read these boards it seems like Wal Mart is the worst place of all to go and you are sure to run into trouble if you do but never for me.

Good for you, Cool Spruce! Sounds like something I would have done. But fortunately, I haven't had a problem in any Wal-Mart yet.

I'm trying to decide if the manager is going to hear about it. (How much of a deal to make of it) This was my first problem at Walmart, but also, this is my first year even attempting bf at Walmart, and it's been good.

We are way out in the sticks up here and lucky to have a Walmart, (it can be argued if we're lucky) Anyway, once the tourists are gone, all these businesses NEED us locals who stay up here and stick it out all winter. I am one of the locals---
