my first attempt at growing seeds from a widow seeded by a haze special, 3/4 weeks into flower now the plants look more haze than widow i think :H and very tall ... click my member gallery
I have no experiance with these strains but theyr some nice lookin plants you got there! -It shows that you put some study time in! -Whacha been readin Brudda?! -Whats your method and tek?
thanks lumpy study time ... reading ... method ... ?! i'm learning as i go along really! i use overgrow quite a bit for info and a few other sites like http://www.ukcultivator.biz started the grow in the garden one afternoon, just put some seeds in the mud, see if anything would happen, when they started popping up i built a growroom in the spare room, got a 250w light, and have been watching them grow ever since. been wicked watching them grow over the last few months planted in soil mixed up with perlite and a bit of vermiculite, and i've been using the b-cuzz a & b nutes, booster and bloomer stuff. seemed kinda idiot proof for a newbie like me think i planted them in the garden around the end of august/start of september, they went under the lights about 2/3 weeks later, and went into flower around end of october/start of november, so about 4/5 weeks into flower now. i think the long veg time is why i have such tall plants, the biggest is over 6ft! luckily i now have the space i have a question, from those pics do you reckon the buds will fatten up? they seem a little lightweight to me ...
--Hell yea Brudda! -If ya do what it says on the label it works! --Like I said, -I got no experiance with these strains but theres a whole lot of flowerin that happens late in flower! Alot of but weight is put on late in flower. -Id think you got plenty of bulk to put on yet!
cool thanks lumpy. i'll keep patient over the next few weeks and hope to see these babys fatten up i'll post some update pics when they do.
Excellent start! Haze's have a tendency toward long stringy buds, probably from it's thai ancestry. It looks as if you're using exclusively HPS. This promtes stem growth as well as flowering. It also promotes irregular growth patterns. A wide spectrum HPS is better than a regular HPS, but not by enough. In the future, adding blue to near ultraviolet light will help to conteract this problems. It will also aid resin production. But for now, two things: Make sure the plants are as close as possible to the light. Test this by holding your open hand with your palm facing the light. If your hand grows hot in two minutes, it's too close. Find the closest distance where you feel you could leave your hand without discomfort. put the plants there, and watch them closely. you'll have to frequently raise the lights. Also, pinch a few cetimeters off the end of each bud. This will cause the lateral stem growth within the bud to slow, and the buds will fatten up. If you don't do this, your likely to end up with very airy buds that degrade on the bottom and are topped with stems and new growth. Normally I wouldn't do this, but with haze's and haze hybirds, as well as other sativa dominants, It's generally a good idea.
how did you put you the pic in the gallery. I want to put my pic in my own gallery.so how do I make a gallery.
thanks for the tips geckopelli. the light, i vegged under metal halide and flowering under sodium - is that alright? heres an update pic side by side with the same plant the other week. i keep hearing they bulk up a lot in the last few weeks so i'm hoping! dirtyworms, click the gallery link, login then upload photos
If you have a seperate MH set-up, get it going ,too, if you can affoard to run both lights. If not, I'll probably get some argument from some, but I've been doing this as long as anyone, switch to the MH. The plant is flowering in earnest. The change back to MH will increse growth amidst the buds that now exist. The buds will thicken up. The lateral growth will slow. The bud, for example, on the right, is big enough; time to fatten it up.
thanks again geckopelli. unfortunately i don't have 2 lights, just the 2 different bulbs for the same unit. interesting idea to swap the bulbs, never heard of that before, it kinda makes sense to me, and it kinda doesn't i'm tempted to try it, but after chatting with a few people ( with mixed reports ), and this being my first grow, i'm going to stick with the sodium. i will try your idea on another grow though, be interesting to see the difference. then i'll probably kick myself for not doing it on this grow :& anyone here tried geckopellis method of using mh for the last few weeks or flower, and if so how did it go?
As a lay scientist, I differ from the majority of HPS advocates out there. For reasons of physics and chemistry, MH produces superior quality and tighter buds than HPS. I've tested this many times with clones. I find a mix of at least 50% MH, and not less than 20% Hps works best.
quick little update ... still flowering! must be the haze/satvia making them take so long, was hoping the widow in them would speed them up a bit some of the hairs are starting to change colour now so hopefully it shouldn't be to long ... i got a 30x microscope as well so i can check the er blobs! ( uk technical term )
