Pre-ordered him a video game for his birthday (having it sent to him- he lives a few states away) and it's been delayed a week. He's so fucking antsy for it, he actually suggested I cancel the order so he could go to the store and buy it himself so he could have it right now, leaving me without a birthday present for him. It means a lot to me when I find a good present for someone, and I had been planning on getting this game since it was announced and he said he wanted it. I even had it set up so that when he got it in the mail, he would get a cutesy little note wishing him a happy birthday.
But noooo, gotta have it now. He talked me into canceling the order with Amazon so I could order it as a pickup from BestBuy, where he would go and pick it up himself. So I did it and there was a problem during processing, so now they are charging my account, but the order was never documented as having been placed with the actual company. I sent them an email about it, but so far not getting anywhere. Gonna call asap, but I'm at fucking school where I am SUPPOSED to be doing a shit ton of work, not fucking around with something I took care of MONTHS ago.
He actually told me it wasn't because he was impatient, but because it was too expensive and he knew I didn't have a lot of money. Way to condescend. I set that aside for his BIRTHDAY PRESENT. I may not be rich, but I think I can swing $35, especially when I give a shit about his birthday.

Why couldn't he just accept my gift? Why couldn't he just wait for it? Why be a prick and tell me I'm too poor toafford him anything nice and then when he can't talk me out of buying it for him he insists on having it there right now? It's bullshit. Sometimes I don't know what he's thinking with.

I'm sorry, but I put a lot of thought into gift-giving, and I've had to deal with my mom shooting me down for almost everything I've ever given her, so maybe I'm a little sensitive on the subject, but this just seems above and beyond rude. He wouldn't have raised such a fuss if his parents had gotten it for him, so why me?

    *sigh*

Over a fucking video game. I could scream. Now he's ruined the present. I'm not going to have any fun giving it to him and he's not going to have any fun getting it, especially if it's tied up in a claim. Cosmic justice says he doesn't get it for a week anyway... I could just cry. Why can't people just say thank you anymore... I don't expect him to kiss my feet over it. I just wanted to fucking do something nice. :(

Christmas is coming so a blow up doll with a hole in it would be a great gift at this point. :)

Sorry to read that you were let down by the feeling of giving. This is always a hard one as sometimes we are more excited than the person we are gifting to.

Hmmm...the women seem to be saying it's just the way it is with gamers. I'm a gamer...I say he was a bituva prick. But what are ya gonna do? Get another fiance? Well, it's a thought, of course...

    It was Golden Sun. :frown:

Oh, I already told him I'm never pre-ordering him a game again. Now if I'm there in the store, can put my hands on it and ring it up before he can, then maybe, but never again over the internet... Too much can go wrong and shipping takes too long.

Nah, it's not that srs, it's just pissed me off and I had to get it out somewhere, so The Whiners forum seemed like the right place.
That said, he knows he was a prick, which makes it harder to be mad at him, because he's so damned repentant now that he knows how he came off... But then, that bothers me too... that it had to be explained to him why this was not the best response to getting a present.
Good thing he's gone to school. We need a break from the subject. :cuss:

At least he's teachable...still, you were a mite sensitive, cuz of your mom probably, and cuz of the hassle with the order. I'd call it a draw. ;)

We're good. I just had to have my moment. Plus, how will he know what I'm feeling if I just clam up and make it go away? We don't want to be one of those couples that keeps everything inside until we kill each other one day...

Okay, we're a little less good now.
I just spent two hours on the phone with customer service of both paypal and best buy. Retried the transaction, and failed all around. I told him to just go and buy the fucker. I quit. I don't even begin to have this kind of time.

There`s something I`ll never understand, obsession with video games.

Anyways, I`m sorry to hear that Firefly, in my opinion your boyfriend was being an immature douche. Not only was he immature for acting like a 4 year old over a damn video game, but he was immature and impolite for not considering your feelings, the person giving the gift. Receiving a gift is of little importance, it`s the thought behind it and the reasons of the gift giver that really matter. People would not give gifts if they didn`t care, that`s the real importance to note behind receiving a gift.

    Thanks. :)

We're good again by the way. Still not getting him the video game but getting us a sex swing instead. He got a half-off coupon from Adam and Eve for his birthday, so I'm going to use that to get it. I'd say this is a fair compromise that benefits both of us. :D

    OK.

Perhaps the swing will take his mind away from video games.
I know which I would choose. :sunny:

aw....honestly, if this is the worst thing hes doing he sounds alright to me. Guys can be retarded sometimes. They don't always understand how much or why things mean so much to their girlfriends. Not trying to belittle your feelings because that would piss me off too, but i say cut him some slack and choose your arguments wisely. As long as he's generally nice to you, chalk it up to temporary retardation, let it slide, and enjoy your swing :)

You're totally right. It's typical boy-girl 'you don't understand me!' crap. He gets it. I get it. I just already feel so helpless being 500 miles away that I thought I could send him a little bit of love in the mail- something he REALLY wanted... and he effed it up, lol.
Oh yes, we have both learned from this experience. He will never tamper with a birthday present again, and I will never trust the internet on Cyber Monday...
