OK, so it is kind of frustrating to see lesbian couples that are fem and butch. I have never seen a butch with a butch or fem with a fem. OK, so my dilemma is that I am fem-ish and girlfriend is fem. Someone who I shall not name basically told me that only fems date butch lesbians. So, I guess that makes me a non lesbian according to those people. Are there any lesbian couples out there that are either both fem or both butch?? I would really love to get some feedback on this.

there's a lot of women who don't really give a shit about any of these labels and find it more worthwhile to focus on their own relationships and happiness/love

Lots of people don't date according to gender binary. Your tastes are your own and you don't need to justify it to anyone.

My girlfriend and I are neither butch nor femme. It's not a conscious decision either way, although we both feel that the labels are restrictive. We're less feminine than feminine girls and less butch than butch girls. We just ARE.

Freja is really not butch. At most, she's andro.

Generally, lipstick lesbians are femme who date other femmes. Most self-identified femmes, but not lipstick lesbians, date butches, some softball lesbians, etc. There are lots of lesbians who don't date according to these arbitrary rules, but maybe these things will help you see a little more clearly when dealing with other women.

Me and my wife are neither fem nor butch as well. It's easy and normal to think in stereotypes, but the truth is they don't apply all the time.

That's funny. I identify more as an andro woman, but I suppose in reality I fall between femme and andro, though I'm really exclusively interested in men and butch women for actual relationships. Heck, I'm broad-minded, though. :)

Oh my god...at the risk of sounding stupid, could you explain those terms? I've never heard those before.

Um, I just date. If you've got a pretty smile in your eyes, it doesn't really matter what else is around it to me.

I don't really consider myself butch or fem (kind of in the middle I guess), but I find myself attracted to tougher women for some reason.

Lipstick lesbians are feminine lesbians are lesbians that date other feminine lesbians. Femmes are feminine lesbians that primarily date butch lesbians. Softball lesbians are the most common type of lesbian; think Indigo Girls. They're recognizably female, yet not really femme, nor are they butch. And it's not silly or stupid at all to ask. :)

Thank you! I guess I've never heard them because I don't really do lables. The only reason I even subscribe to lesbian is so that other people can have something to attach to me. lol

I'm a very feminine girly girl type, sometimes I dress a bit androgynous, and I prefer girly girls; pretty, feminine, elegant.
A very butch friend of mine who usually dates femms actually has a boyfriend now 0.0 its funny because they're both more like bros, you know?

I've seen both butch with a butch and fem with a fem; stereotypes are nothing to worry about. Just be yourself, love who you love and not the one you think you are supposed to love.
