"Shut up and eat a chocolate! It'll make everything better." my friend to another friend when she was complaining about her bf.
i like this one: "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace." - Hendrix
and this one: "The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it. Through violence you may murder the liar, but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth. Through violence you may murder the hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate. So it goes. Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that." - Martin Luther King Jr.
I have a quote that I read somewhere and is some semi-famous historical commentary on the french civil war, however I always misquote it for some reason but it makes more sense the way I remember it "they burst their shackles and wear the name of freedom grave on heavier chain" I don't know why I like it because it's not really overtly relevant to anything, although you could get all woolly minded and apply it to pretty much any aspect of modern society. Apart from that just an assortment of things I can't really remember unless I need them, most of them either science or nerd related, and the bible verses "many who are first shall be last and many who are last shall be first" and / or "I am the resurrection and the life" which pretty much sum shit up for me. Bonus Level:Freeman Dyson "heretics who question the dogmas are needed... I am proud to be a heretic. The world always needs heretics to challenge the prevailing orthodoxies"
one of the first quotes that realli caught my attention and clicked with me "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves." -- 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
"you cant make footprints in the sands of time by sitting on your ass" My older brother, has stuck with me since the day he said it
"whether you say you cant or you can, you're right" "measure twice, cut once" "lo cortez no quita lo cuauhtemoc" "if you were a superhero you would be supergay"
hey B, that first quote was stewie griffin right? i have a rather long quote that i'm fond of : “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” Marianne Williamson

If you know a friend you can fully trust, Go often to his house Grass and brambles grow quickly Upon the untrodden track - Odin
forgot where i picked this up at: The man who walks with no shoes always looks at where he is at. He only glimpses forwards and backwards but his only concern is where his feet are right now. When the barefoot man finds a piece of glass laying on the ground where people walk, he picks up the glass and carries it with him. So that no others will be harmed by it. i get the first one. dont really get the second one. may mean a burden but it isnt practical...unless you are actually talking about glass and walking barefoot.
"If the human brain was simple enough for us to understand, we would still be so stupid that we couldn't understand it." - Jostein Gaarder "When all of your wishes are granted, many of your dreams will be destroyed" - Marilyn Manson And my sig - Tool.
Oh, and almost every Lord Flashheart line in Blackadder lol Lord Flasheart: Mind if I use your phone? If word gets out I'm missing, five hundred girls will kill themselves. And I wouldn't want them on my conscience, not when they ought to be on my *face*! Lord Flasheart: Just because I can give multiple orgasms to the furniture just by sitting on it, doesn't mean that I'm not sick of this damn war: the blood, the noise, the endless poetry. ...and so on, haha
