Mine...Foo Fighters man I absolutely love these guys. I'm mostly a classic rock type of person but when it comes to the Foo Fighters I'm hooked !
Didnt you here? They just broke up...that would make them no longer a modern band. mine would be flyleaf. oh and I kid o kid but they did go on haitus so dont expext to see them live or make a new album any time soon
Temper Trap (best aussie band for the past few years) heavily influenced by U2 with their own distinctive style in their earlier days, doing more of their own thing now. Ellie Goulding is one of my favourite solo artists.
I knew that they the taking a break. At least I hope it's just a break and that's all it amounts too. So anyways...beings it's just a break I'm still going with my favorite modern day band..lol. I'm not giving up hope that hopefully they'll be back & soon. I'm tired of all this radio play music these days and the Foo Fighters do their own thing.
I'm gonna get flamed for this, but I can handle it: Two weeks ago I was in the studio with a team, recording backing for a tv advert. Someone mentioned 'Professor Green',I'd never heard of him. When I [and my guitars] got home,I checked on Youtube to see who he is. I actually found his style and ability quite impressive-especially 'Avalon'. The sad thing is I've played Rock/Metal/Blues plus been a session musician for over 50 years, and there I was, listening to this young rapper and being impressed. I've always said rap sucks,it isn't music, blah blah. Word-eating time for the Puggybear. . . . .
A lot of reggae. Stick Figure, Mellow Mood, Leah Rosier, Alboriose, Rootz Underground, Kultiration. Listen to some bands that mixes psychedelic with at least a little more modern influences. Like these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TL2TUBZK8Ek&list=PL7452BF61E32119CF&feature=mh_lolz

I could never pick one favorite, so here are a few Slightly Stoopid G. Love & Special Sauce Rebelution Yonder Mountain String Band The Dirty Heads The Expendables Pepper
Rammstein is pretty close to the top of my list. Honorable mentions: Slipknot Mushroomhead Korn Disturbed Godsmack Anybody else seeing a pattern here? unk:
Windhand's fist album is my go-to comfort music. Lord Vapour is very damn special too. Shades of Hendrix in singing style, and emphasis on guitar, in slow stoner rock form. Chill heavy.
Jesus... Tacocat? The Julie Ruin? Ex-Hex? Go Betty Go? The Reprobates? I can only pick one? What defines a "modern-day band"?
Bullet for My Valentine - I started listening to them like five years ago, and fell in love. They have some new stuff out this year.
