I wouldnt make the assumption that prefering female singers is a stereotypical gay thing, that may be the case for their style, fashion sense etc. But as for the voice I would make the assumption that a gay guy would prefer a male voice.

Rock / Metal may not be everyones cup of tea, but with the band 'Disturbed' particulalry, my fondness for them has a whole lot to do with the singers voice, often just his voice will get the blood flowing in that naughty way.
