Hi all, I was curious if any of you played competitive sports growing up and if so, which ones? What are your favs? Do you still play? What do you love about it? I loved almost all sports growing up and was always eager to try something new, but my two favs were soccer and water polo. I always loved the fierce competitive nature of them, but them also the team bonding and team work side of it. How about the rest of you?
I have never been into competitive sports. I used to d a lot of cross-country skiing, when I lived in a place with decent snow. (The stuff that passes for snow where I am now isn't good for anything.)
I wasn’t interested in team sports in high school but I love most outdoor activities like cycling, hiking and running. I’m not super competitive but have done lots of mountain bike races over the years and done the bike leg of a few multi sport events we have locally.
I should probably be in the Guiness book of records, for never having played, or even watched a single game of sports in my 76 years. The one exception, back in the 1970s, was being paid to watch a couple of guys in Madison Sq New York beating the lights out of each other. I was running the live feed transmission to about a dozen cinemas in the UK. What bemused me was that around 10,000 people over here went out at about 3am in the morning and actually paid quite a lot of money to watch it. Idiots really are a dime a dozen.
