WTF is up with that?

am i the only one around who is noticing a lot of fat ass vegetarians?

we just got back from a gathering and saw folks who are long time vegetarians that we havent seen in about 5 years and we could not get over how much weight a lot of them had gained.

the director of the sanctuary we worked at was close to two hundred pounds overweight and had congestive heart failure not long ago despite being a long time vegetarian.

ive noticed this over the last decade or so but it seems to be becoming more common.

only thing i can figure is these folks diets are still shit even though its a vegetarian diet.

to me its just more proof that its not necessarily what you eat or dont eat but how balanced and healthy of a diet as a whole you eat.

    oh and,,hippies still suck..lol

who needs proof to know that eating unhealthy can lead to being overweight? it's obvious that being vegetarian doesn't necessarily mean skinner.

i can see how its hard to understand for ya bud. not everyone works as hard as you do, or is as active. some people only live to eat, some people only eat to live.

yeah i know it boils down to what they eat,and how much exercise they get.hell i saw it first hand. a kitchen that only allows "organic" supplies and a strictly vegetarian diet had no problem allowing a whole box of junk food to be sat out in front of it for folks to munch on while they sat around on their fat asses and waited for dinner.

dilli joked that she had to go to the woods to get junk food.

just seems hypocritical is all. but then much of what i see self proclaimed hippies do nowadays seems extremely hypocritical.. fuckin skewed ideals ..

so whens the next gathering?

they dont say 'hippie' is short for 'hypocrit' for nothing. but its like that in every sector or walk in life. 3 outa 4 people involved are just tryin to fit in. but those 1 in 4 are pretty amazing. i stopped goin to gatherings along time ago cus i was tired of bein preached at by a bunch of pretenders. i meet plenty of the real rainbows out in the real world. still should make it back to another national though, theres alot of it i do miss.

thats pretty much why we have given it up but as you have stated, there are those true to the core of what its all about mixed in.

this was our first since 2005 other than the few we have had here at the house. it was so very nice to see those select few we had thought about over the last few years.

A lot of them just turn into carbotarians. It doesn't matter if you eat meat or veggies, if you can't find a balance you will be unhealthy. Also, people are too damn lazy to get off their asses and do a little physical work.

It's what you eat... how much (amount and variety) of it... and what you do with it--- burn it with activity or pad it on by sitting on your butt... As a part of an ecosystem humans are designed to be constantly on the move. Whether we are ecologically designed to ingest meat is up for debate- my opinion is that we are... in small amounts but we weren't designed to sit on our butts! Perhaps the vegetarian diet isn't to blame as much as the mindset accompanying it that desires easy answers; adopting a vegetarian diet represents a magic bullet to some folks- the program that, according to their thinking, is supposed to enable them to manage body composition and overall health & function without having to move a muscle.

im not at all surprised the least with your observations hhb. human nature does not escape rainbows or vegetarians.

    it's pretty amusing.

you can draw many related examples from this. especially from the hypocrisy of the church etc.. mainly high church officials acting in ways unbecoming of their respected position.

    nicely said.

we are defiantly moving away, at a fast pace, from our evolved natural behaviors. most notably and obvious is our increasingly lack of exercise that was so important to our species development. it seems, though doubtful, that we are evolving away from physical demands.
