weigh in : how long is your long hair. Where do you want it? me: 36"/tailbone length Aiming for classic (butt ) for a while then attempting back of thighs...then, hopefully, longer
mine right now is about 21 inches, about 5 inches past my armpits, I'm shooting for just above tailbone, but I'm not sure it will make it. Anyone got any tips for keeping the ends healthy? I shampoo and condition, and I never blow dry, but my ends get so dry.
My hair is about 1/4 inch all around, except a spot from the crown to my hairline, which is 1/2 inch. I'm growing some sort of little shaggy, floppy mohawk.. Only gonna be a few inches long, though. Yessss, I buzz it all off once a week. Here's a closeup..
My hair is past waist length a little, about 5 inches above my tailbone. It's naturally curly and just does it's own thing...I have no plans, other than to just let it grow. I use olive oil in my hair,Paix...maybe once a month or so,I heat up about a cups worth and massage it into my hair, let it stay in about an hour and then rinse it out really well. It seems to help with the dryness.
Thats super cute Mines shoulder length but as they are dreads they take AGES to grow. its taken a year and a half to get from chin to shoulder
Mine is to my waist but its ragged. I would ideally like it a bit past my waist but all even. I don't trust anyone I know here to trim it.
If I pull my longest dread, It reaches almost the bone above where my butt starts (don't know the name, but it damn hurts if you fall on it....) I am aiming at all dreads being that long... and then ? Donno. I had too much fantasies about shaving them off.. but right now I am in love with them again. We tend to have a difficult realtionship at times. *giggle*
haha kastenfrosh i totally know what you mean. at the moment im in a mood with my dreads because they went from loking super beautiful to now looking straggly
Right now, my hair is about to my shoulder blades. My hair is really thick and wavy, it's a dark blond/reddish color, althought that changes pretty frequently. Last summer, I had a fit and chopped it off pretty short. Before that, it was really long, past my waist. To keep the ends nice, I have my husband trim a tiny bit off about every other week.
i used to have really long hair and always prefer it that way...but now i got for the more practical ways: so i keep it short, just below my neck...i feel i look better with shorter hair, my hair is really thick and tends to go on the frizzzzzzy side most of the time (annoys the fuck out of me) so yeah. long hair is beautiful though, but not on me that is!
I used to have hair down to my butt, but I sold to to a rich chick. Since then, i tend to chop it off every couple of years. Chop it to my jawline, let it grow to my waist. Right now it's in an inbetween period... about 3 inches past my shoulders.
My hair is so straight and fine its not really good for anything other than being long unless I wanna perm it (blah) the few times I did changed my hair color. My hair won't hold a curl any other way, except waves from braids. Plus my hair has grown painfully slow all my life so that has made me a huge chicken. Next time I cut it though, Imma take fayeautumn's advice on the appropriate time and see if that doesn't help.
Well, as for how long my hairs actually are, I have no idea. I dreaded it over a year and a half ago, and at that point it was down to my butt. As to how long my hair looks, it's a few inches past my shoulders.
My hair USED to be about shorts-level (meaning, when I wore reg. shorts, thats where my hair ended, lol, it was to the point where I sat on it sometimes). Then I cut it all up to shoulder lenght to donate to Locks of Love. I really loved donating, I plan on doing it again next summer, when my hair will be long enough. (they only need 10 inches of hair)
Just to my shoulders at the moment...got it trimmed to deal more comfortably with the heat and humidity here...but it will get longer.
dm's advice for dry ends: moisture! Is your hair long enough for a bun or french twist? do it while the ends are still damp to lock the moisture in. It isn't like lips that chap from outside moisture! oil is your friend. Jojoba is closest in molecular structure to sebum (scalp and skin oils) so it is GREAT for your hair. You can smooth it on after a wash (light coat that will absorb) or use it as deep conditioning. It IS expensive so I use jojoba on the last 3-4 inches and olive or coconut on the rest. My 4 oz bottle is now half full. I bought it about a year ago for U$7. loose braids at night. Always. If you move at all during the night, your hair can break. My ends are probably 7 years old. They have had a lot of abuse from elements (yeah...hair wraps no more. mini dread clumps - no more) Treat your hair like old lace to get it ultra long. My sweetie is corraled into trimming it every few months. about half an inch or less. My under layers have far more damage because of former dreads and chopping out hair wraps (in my defense, I keep them for at least a year at this level of care) I think the bottom layer might be shorter. that's the reason for picking a point and keeping the hair there for a while.
My hair is about 24" long. I don't care if it gets a bit longer but I love the length it is at now and it's in great condition! My sister is a hairstylist so I get alot of free shampoos, conditioners, and other hair products. I have to say the best product line I have ever used is Redken. Now I am hooked forever! If you have straight hair I recommend Redken's Smooth Down shampoo and conditioner. Redken's butter treat is also really nice. For curly hair: Redken's Fresh Curl's shampoo and conditioner. But if you don't care about the shampoos and conditioners you definately need to just get Redken's Anti-Snap. It mends together dead ends, treats, and softens your hair. I love it! You can get it cheap online!
