Anybody still play this delicious game 5 years later? I do, and I still can't seem to get bored from it. God, if I added up all the time I spent playing this game. It's funny cause I don't play any other games now a days and the only reason I even got an xbox was for Fallout and New Vegas. Like I just wanted to start a thread to share my up most and very sad obsession with this game. If it were female, I would do everything to it 0.o It's that good, for all you who haven't played it... And if you haven't get on it! And all you nerdy fallout fans such as myself, you pumped about the new teaser? Could be a television series or maybe even fallout 4? Ahh all this fallout talk has gotten me in a smiley rhythm :hurray:
Fallout 3 was awesome. New Vegas was good too, but so full of glitches it ruined it. I had not heard anything about a part 4, I will definitely get it if they make one.
i actually started a new game of fallout 3 a couple weeks ago and have been playing for a couple hours a day (most days anyway) since then. i liked new vegas about equally, but i had played it more recently so i decided to go with 3 this time. i know they are planning on making a fallout 4, but i hadn't heard anything about a new teaser. i will definitely own the game when it does come out.
I used to play this game all the time until I unlocked a perk where small arms fire would explode the enemy into pieces. The game lost its appeal for me immediately.
well you don't have to take that perk... i generally do take it though; it doesn't really make sense when a 10mm pistol explodes an enemy, but i generally play as a big guns/explosives guy anyway so it makes more sense.
Can you unperk it? I think I'd have to restart the game anyway because I bought a new unit a few years back. Also, the mandatory use of the underground subway/railroad system to get places also ruined the game for me. I've been told I'd probably prefer the New Vegas game but eh.
yeah i think you would have to start a new character; i'm pretty sure there's no unperking. unless you happened to have a save file from before the level up in question. that whole subway thing is pretty stupid. as much as i feel like the fast travel system is cheating, i do use it to get in and out of DC so i don't have to keep running through those damn tunnels any more than i have to. luckily, it seems like most of the game content is out in the wasteland anyway, so you don't have to deal with the DC ruins that much.
I have a bad habit of restarting these types of games and then I realise I don't want to sit through the same conversations all over again >.> Luckily with Skyrim I've never restarted.
Yeah for sure. As far as the perks go, you cannot undo them unfortunately :/ But yeah fast traveling is sort of cheating, I don't really like to do it unless its from one corner to another. But you guys prefer Skyrim or Fallout? Cause they're both similar, I guess it's a preference thing...
i really haven't played skyrim enough to give an informed opinion on it. i only got about 5 hours into it and then i wasn't able to play for a long time, and i haven't gotten back to it yet. if we're talking elder scrolls vs fallout, that is a hard decision. i haven't played the first two games of either series, but of what i have played, morrowind was the best by far, and oblivion was the worst by far, with fallout 3 and new vegas being pretty much right in the middle. so on average i guess they would be about the same. i guess it mostly just depends on my mood. sometimes i'm feeling more fantasy worldy, and sometimes i'm feeling more post-apocalypse united statesy.
oh Yeah man, my bad I totally meant Elder Scrolls, I was tryna compare the series. Whoops! Yeah I haven't really followed much of the elder scrolls myself, I guess because I was too deeply hooked to Fallout. And when I said the teaser, the gentlemen who voiced Three Dog leaked that there is "more of the Dog coming" which can mean a number of things. I really honestly hope they go towards a Fallout television series, I mean they could do literally so much. But that's only a fanboys dream
back to the original topic of fallout 3, how do you guys feel about companions? it feels like i'm missing out if i don't recruit a couple, but on the other hand, dogmeat's just there to ruin any of your stealth attempts by trying to get himself killed as quickly as possible by large groups of enemies. and i'm currently using charon as my other companion, but the way i remember, all of the humanoid companions are the same: they basically don't let you play the game at all because they just run around killing every enemy when you're still so far away that successfully shooting said enemy is physically impossible for the player character. i recruited my companions, but i've only been using them when walking across the wasteland, then telling them to wait outside every single dungeon i enter.
oh yeah, i actually had heard about the three dog leak; i just forgot about it since he didn't really say anything of substance beyond "something is coming." i pretty much play the game like it's a tv series in my head anyway. like each mission (or two, if they're short) is an episode. i might just be weird there, but it seems to fit pretty well that way. i don't know if i would really want to watch the show though. realistically, it would probably be disappointing. on the other hand, i would almost definitely enjoy a new game in the series.
All of them died fairly quickly than longer, especially Dogmeat. The only guy that fucks shit up is Faux at the end. I mean he actually kills people and he's never died every time I had him. Now he was a companion! Now, besides the glitches in the game, what didn't you enjoy about the game?
Hell yeah man that's how I roll too! It just adds that much more fun and suspense to the game. YEah, this game might take another year or two, on account there's no real news or updates yet. I'm praying that one might come out this year. :2thumbsup:
other than the overzealous companions, it can be a bit repetitive. a lot of the building interiors look very similar, as do the metros/sewers that you have to take to get around the DC ruins. also the wasteland itself is a whole lot of the same, which makes sense when considering the whole post-apocalyptic thing, but is still kind of boring when you're walking around out there. my only other complaint is that when trying to play as an evil character, you're rarely given motivation for your actions. it would make sense if you had the option of being a good person, or of being an asshole for a whole bunch of money, or something like that. but instead, it's usually more like you can be a good person and get a decent prize, or you can randomly go around doing the least logical and most destructive thing possible, for almost the exact same prize. it just comes off as a bit awkward when trying to play that character. otherwise, i can't think of anything offhand that really bothers me about it. it may be a tad too easy, but only a tad so it's hard to really bitch about that. i'm certainly looking forward to the next installment, but i think i could wait a year or two for the next one. i still have to go back and actually play skyrim, plus this year is supposed to bring a new GTA and a new simcity, which are probably the only two franchises i like more than fallout and elder scrolls. so i'm going to be busy for a while. but then again, if a new fallout does come out sooner rather than later, that just means that they will have worked out the bugs, dropped the price, and come out with some expansions by the time i do get to it. so i guess i'm with you on that.
YEah I hear you on the repetitiveness for sure, it does get occasionally, whats the word........ bland I guess to be nice. A complaint I have I guess I mean as much time as they actually put into this game, which is a lot, I feel like some of the dialogue is just simpler compared to the older fallouts, if you know what I mean. It is a whole new company that took up the project, so I know where that is coming from, but the dialogue at times just seems more predictable as opposed to the original when it had depth and a REAL good storyline. But yeah other than that, nothing man...!! Speaking of fallout I'm gonna go play some for a couple hours. If you guys are on xbox, feel free to add me at Imgayforandrew. I like meeting new peoples
A friend of mine recently admitted he's addicted to Fallout 3. But he plays on the PC and has been tweaking the graphics and making his own models and some look good enough to eat...:drool5: I mean you gotta love it when you to tweak your character so when she crouches to take a shot you get a glimpse of life-like pussy up her mini-skirt. Personally I prefer the Elder Scrolls series. Have played them since the beginning, Arena. I like that over the years they have done a good job of maintaining the game world and mythology consistently throughout 5 main games. I just started Skyrim the other day and I'm right back in a familiar world with references and alliances I remember from previous games. For me that helps with the whole role-playing aspect of the games. I also feel the overall AI is better in Skyrim with scripted sequences still having a lot of randomness to them and the actions/reaction/interactions of the NPC's are much more realistic and organic feeling than Fallout or previous Bethesda games, at least IMHO.
